I’m glad you’re back. I love the pictures you put up. I have windows8 also and it is different. One thing that helped me was [f you run your cursor down in the lefthand corner where the icon for the metro screen comes up. Right click and a menu comes up with a lot of the useful stuff on it, File explorer, task manager, control panel etc, etc.

Just downloaded "classic shell", my win 8 now looks almost like win xp, got a start button and everything. I will hammer it until it works!

Looks like I will be around in fits and starts, too wired to really relax.

I think I’m at the point where stuff wears out faster than I can grow it. It is a humbling experience.

Isn’t it funny how the body we carelessly ride through life becomes our ever more fragile connection to it?

Gees Louise. I am a piker compared to you and Mesta. So are all in this house, save one.

I hydrate myself every ding dong day. All day long until about 9 pm. Just to keep any kidneys from complaining. I have wondered whether doing that may keep gout away...all that uric acid, etc. Doing this is a pain for restaurants, though.

REALLY tickled to see you back on here Swampy. I'm also glad you got Windows 8 into an operable condition, LOL. We old geezers don't like change for the sake of change! Crossing my fingers that my computer with Windows 7 lasts forever.

Take good care of yourself my FRiend. Great to have you back.

Now that’s an “Unnngh” moment if I ever heard one!
Good to see you’re okay!
And that the pets weren’t plotting against you.
(Mine do, hence why I pondered that.)

Thank God you're at your earthly home. When I saw the update at post #195 on the headline, I thought it meant "eternal home".

Big sigh of relief over here in Texas.

Things are getting strange.

I did some research last night, ALL the problems that landed me in the hospital this time are side effects from prescribed drugs, Enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide. Looking back I've been going downhill for months, major leg cramps, muscle pains all over and my lung therapy wasn't really effective.

When I got to the ER my kidney function was 15%, severe gout, couldn't walk, dehydrated and anemic to the point they gave me 2 units of blood as soon as they could get it.

I'm off of both drugs, last night I had the first pain free night of good sleep I've had in months, I can walk around and I'm actually feeling almost good sometimes.

When I checked out Monday my doctor told me to make an appointment for next week, I called this morning and he doesn't work there anymore! I had a near scene with him on Monday, he didn't want me to leave the hospital but I raised Hell Army style and he signed me out, and that is good because I was leaving no matter what he said.

Now I really suspect he was in CYA mode, he was in a panic state.

I never liked the idea of researching every prescription as soon as I got it, don't want my head to influence the results, but now I wish I had checked out the side effects, I could have spared myself a lot of pain.

I am so glad you are doing better. I can relate to your problem. My husband is 78 years old, has had double bypass, diabetes, 2nd stage kidney disease. He takes about 10 to 12 prescriptions a day. He does NOT feel good. When ever he goes to a doctor (he has 3), they will take him off one pill and give him 2 more.

Yesterday he was feeling awful I took his blood pressure and it was 86/46. Too many blood pressure meds!

That is the bad side, on the good side, no one in his family has ever lived to be 78! Every day is a blessing.

My BP was almost gone when I got to the ER, they had to insert a catheter in my carotid for the transfusion, it was the only thing they could find.
