“Here’s the problem. The Pope didn’t seem to be doing anything. It should read, ‘the paper tried to present the pope as. . .’”

Well I don’t agree with the paper and their incorrect headline and hit piece as I pointed out earlier. But I don’t agree with your statement either. The Pope didn’t seemed to be doing anything? He made a statement about not judging gays. Yes he WAS doing and saying something. Unless you are saying it doesn’t matter what the Pope says. As a world Church leader anything he says is worthy of comment and discussion. Unfortunately all we have though are quotes from a questionable rag.

So I don’t trust the liberal rag. I also don’t trust blind RCC apologists either who trot out the “everyone hates Catholics” garbage anytime someone discusses what the Pope has to say.

Great reply, Mrs. Don-o. The only thing I would add is this:

"It is very clear. And if the Pope has not been chosen to judge what is right... WHY is he the Pope?"

The key point here is that the Pope has and does judge what is right. He is not in a position (as these evangelicals are demanding) to judge who is right (or wrong) in the eyes of God and therefore bound for heaven (or hell).

It's a distinction that, I don't know, people here seem to be deliberately missing.

People say whatever they want to say.

The Catholic Church NEVER says anyone is going to Hell for not being Catholic

Catholicism is 2,000 years old

It didn’t get there with its members making stuff up along the way

The FACT, that people who enjoy despising the Church do not like to believe, is that the Church does NOT, it simply does NOT state that people are going to hell who are not Catholic

It is not a make it up as you go along Church

The Church says what it says not what people say it says

"HOW TO EXPLAIN PAPAL INFALLIBILITY IN TWO MINUTES."

But...

the leadin screen said in UNDER two minutes...

...and the running time was indicated at 2 minutes 14 SECONDS!

They are better Catholics having watched it.

If YouTube had been around 1000 years or so ago; perhaps todays world would be different.

Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Benedict IX (1032–1044, 1045, 1047–1048), who "sold" the Papacy

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

Pope Urban VI (1378–1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]

Pope Alexander VI (1492–1503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]

Pope Leo X (1513–1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]

Pope Clement VII (1523–1534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.

While Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Pope Francis called for a conversion of heart to reduce poverty rather than for government assistance.

It's good that he said 'reduce' and not 'eliminate'.

"The poor will be with you always."

My pastor used to say...

"You can't keep a bird from alighting on your head;
but you don't have to let her build a nest there!"

He will regret the firestorm

People wouldn’t trust the media to not spin what a conservative nor the entire group of tea partiers do and say

But they believe what the media says about the Church

But I certainly resent being told that I am going to Hell simply because I am not Catholic.

Then be glad you ain't an SLC MORMON!!!

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

Thank you for explaining this. Seeing and making distinctions is an important aspect of actually understanding things.

Let's pray for each other.

That’s why I said earlier in the thread that this is not a good thing. It will eventually lead to the acceptance of homosexuality.

It’s just the first step.

Thank you. I think we would like to reduce poverty and eliminate sin. Takes time and grace.

Shall we pray for each other?
