Child prostitution: Raids rescue 105 young people

Declaring child prostitution a "persistent threat" in America, the FBI said Monday that authorities had rescued 105 young people and arrested 150 alleged pimps in a three-day sweep in 76 cities.

The agency said it had been monitoring Backpage.com and other websites as a prominent online marketplace for sex for sale. Backpage.com said that it was "very, very pleased" by the raids and that if the website were shut down to the advertisements, the ads would be pushed to sites that wouldn't cooperate with law enforcement.

The young people in the roundup, almost all of them girls, ranged in age from 13 to 17.

The largest numbers of children rescued in the weekend initiative, Operation Cross Country, were in San Francisco, Detroit, Milwaukee, Denver and New Orleans. The operation was conducted under the FBI's decade-long Innocence Lost National Initiative. The latest rescues and arrests were the largest such enforcement action to date.

"Child prostitution remains a persistent threat to children across the country," Ron Hosko, assistant director of the bureau's criminal investigative division, told a news conference. "We're trying to put this spotlight on pimps and those who would exploit."

The investigations and convictions of 1,350 individuals have led to life imprisonment for 10 pimps and the seizure of more than $3.1 million in assets.

$3.1 million is assets? That's $3.1 million that could have supported MRAs who are fighting against the "anti male bias" of family courts and prostate cancer researchers, both of whom who are hurting for cash, but instead went to these pimps.

Can someone explain the logic of male thinking that would have so many men patronize these pimps' "products" to the tune of $3.1 million, instead of supporting those who are trying to help them?

“.. the FBI said Monday that authorities had rescued 105 young people and arrested 150 alleged pimps in a three-day sweep in 76 cities.”

And THAT was just from DNC offices; imagine what the numbers will be after they raid the offices of the SEIU, Teamsters and so on!

Wonder what they all have in common?

The "management level" people arrested so far were all women. These women identified the young victims, recruited them, "groomed" them, and then "turned them out. they were the pimps and madams who ran the day to day business.

I'm guessing here but I'd bet that there is another layer above what the FBI has breached so far. It is more likely a national crime organization which collects the money from the various metropolitan centers, where members stay far away from the "merchandise" to hide and protect their anonymity. They probably operate legitimate business through which they can launder their profits. They may have another "layered" organization to facilitate distribution of Mexican cartel drugs, since prostitution and drugs are often found together.

Just a passing thought, the "Über" managers might well be cartel operatives. They don't have to live in the US, they could move the cash through the same US Banks that transfer the wages of illegal "guest" workers back to Mexican families. Estimates of these transfers run to over a billion dollars a year, an extra $250K more or less, who to know...

GtG

Does it have to? What percent of the clients would you estimate were female?

Difficult to say. whenever we get these cases women tend to be involved in recruiting and training the little ones.

They are rarely prosecuted to the extent the men are, but, (if you look at sources like statistics compiled by therapist organizations or abuse survivor recovery groups) about one third of child victims of sexual abuse report either female perpetrators or a mix of male and female perpetrators in therapy. Admittedly, just as compiling statistics only from people charged by the criminal justice system is inately biased - these statistics come only from people messed up enough to need outside help in coping.

But its a fair question. Buying a prostitute is less risky for the perv who wants sex with a kid than recruiting or kidnapping a kid themselves.

My question was who is patronizing them and paying for their services, in these cases to the tune of $3.1 million?

I know women are involved in helping pimps get their "product", but it's the patrons who are making them rich.

And those patrons are...

As I pointed out, those patrons likely include women. Possibly women hiring young girls as well as young men.

I take it you have never noticed all the naughty teacher threads. Those do not represent some new development in human behavior. Nor did you read my last post regarding research beginning to come out of therapy and self help groups for people sexually abused as children.

Sexual immorality is not now and never has been a strictly male problem.

The Bible would tell you that.

What would you say is the percentage of women patronizing prostitution, in relation to the whole problem?

There is no broad reaching research. Everything I know of is regional. Probably around fifteen percent if I were to hazard an educated guess.

Maybe higher, if you count women in dope houses using meth to buy a younger person to make them feel young. You will hear testimonies of that behavior in twelve step programs and the women who do it seldom connect the reality that since the young guys wouldn’t spend a moment naked with a woman their mom’s age unless she were providing the drugs means that it is pretty much the same as if she were paying cash.

I think 15% is way too high, but let's work with that. 85% of $3.1 million is $2,635,000. That is $2,635,000 that could have helped cash strapped MRAs or prostate cancer researchers, but made abusive pimps rich instead.

Getting back to my original point, can you explain the logic of male thinking that would have so many men patronize these pimps' "products" to the tune of $2,635,000, instead of supporting the MRAs and prostate cancer researchers who are trying to help them?

With that in mind, here's something for your perusal.

The sex trade is not really connected to logic.
