Over the years Rush Limbaugh has become part of the Old Guard “Country Club Republicans” that he used to make fun of. Sellout!

That is hilariously ironic given your tag line was taken from Rush (he was the one who made the term “VRWC” a joke).

Rush is NOT a “Country Club Republican.: He has been RAILING at them to return to their Conservative roots and been pissed as heck that they have rolled over in the face of the sandals and illegal acts of the obozo administration.

Maybe you should actually LISTEN to his show from time to time.

Ehh, not so much. Watch the re-runs - he likes Cruz and Palin and thinks there is a war for control of the party.

I think just the opposite. Rush saw what the TEA party was accomplishing, and saw the GOP-E doing everything outside of outright murder to kill it. I don’t believe he had faith in anything until he witnessed TEA rising.

He is about to be re-born.

Rush has been charged by the GOP establishment since the mid 90’s to be the gatekeeper and parameter setter for the Republicans. He is supposed to keep a grip on and direct conservative groups and individuals as to what is legitimate and what is out of bounds. Maybe he feels he can’t do that in good conscience I would suspect. I’ve found his brother to be more conservative and consistent.

I’ll never get over Rush’s behavior around ‘96 regarding Alan Keyes and Pat Buchanan. Also his stance on Free trade and his 10point Kook Test. But I suspect time is running out for anyone of the conservative bent to be tolerated in any fashion by our betters so Rush might as well let it rip and I would like to see him come right out and spill the beans on the GOP establishment. But, he knows the perimeters and what will happen if he breaks his promises or crosses certain boundaries - he’ll wind up destroyed or dead. At this point I think all (the few voices with an outlet) really need to think hard and go for all the marbles saying what they really believe and make a major stink cause this window won’t last forever; the window of Free Speech and opportunity to still be heard.

If Rush became "part of the old guard," he has left that crowd.

He's not willing to ditch the two party system as he realizes that it's better to regain control of the Republican Party (as Reagan did) than to lose everything by insisting a third party can control our government.

Rush is realizing just how much the "old guard" as you put it, truly despises conservatives and by extension, conservatism!

Rush even gave Rubio the opportunity to define where his "line in the sand" was, only to find out he didn't actually have one!

Limbaugh is a business man and he makes a product that he sells. And he makes or customizes his product to achieve the highest level of sales and profit.

20 years ago he had a more mainstream product.

But as populism has swept thru the GOP, his product has become more populist.
