At eight hours to midnight, the florists began arranging the first wedding flowers in Minneapolis City Hall.

Forty-two couples will be marrying here, starting at the stroke of midnight, the moment same-sex marriage is legal in Minnesota.

As the hall filled with the scent of white roses, lillies, stocks and orchids, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak sat on the marble staircase, pouring over the biographies of the 84 people he was about to marry.

Well Minnesotans, the downhill slide continues here in the North Star State.

I am sooo very disappointed it had to come to this. The failure of the marriage amendment last fall emboldened the Left to push a gay marriage bill thru the Legislature.

A few Republicans voted for it and hopefully, they'll be denied party endorsement and/or primaried next year. But their votes didn't change the outcome.

Comments or opinions - anyone?

And,no doubt, they'll all be invited to fornicate on the steps of City Hall with “I Wanna Know What Love Is” playing on the loudspeaker.

“As the hall filled with the scent of white roses, lillies, stocks and orchids”

And of course KY jelly, feces, and urine.

“Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak sat on the marble staircase, pouring over the biographies of the 84 people he was about to marry.”

Except it was all pointless because he wasn’t going to marry anyone. As a mayor, he has zero standing before God to perform such a ceremony. In addition, all of the people weren’t even eligible to be married because they didn’t fit the definition of marriage. The mayor looked grim as he continued to read about Barry and Steve’s escapades at the leather bar, knowing that their ‘love’ would always be an abomination before God.

There, I said my piece. The state is down the toilet, but we knew that already since they elected a nutjob as their governor, and widely approve of Al Frankenstein, who happens to have a higher corruption rating than Robert Mugabe.
Conservatives who are still stuck there should arrange moving plans to North Dakota.

Oh, and another thing. This is the state where Chip Cravaak lost his House seat to a guy who has spent his ENTIRE political career jacking up his own pay.

The state legislature is full of pederasts. Screw ‘em. May they burn in the coming collapse.

I just finished a late supper. After reading your comment, I need a new keyboard and brain-bleach to get that mental image out of my brain! I’ll not be able to listen to that song again! Too bad, it was a good song.

Receptions in the men’s room?

They can call these ... ‘unions’ whatever they want, but they aren’t marriages.

For a minute I mistook you for "Former Proud Canadian" who, according to his profile, lives in Windsor,Ontario...right across the river from Detroit.Because of that error I was gonna invite you to dust off your passport (I remember when we could all cross the border with just a birth certificate),drive through the tunnel to Detroit, and watch the same kind of event on the steps of their City Hall.

Sorry for ruining that song for you.But take heart in the fact that our Community Agitator-In-Chief has spoiled several songs for me as well, something your PM has never done.

"they'll all be invited to fornicate"

I'm sure they'll decline. I understand they usually prefer sodomy.

Something similar was done in Seattle - government meeting rooms stayed open late to host the gay marriages, refreshments were served, the mayor was present, etc. When my daughter was married, the city didn’t host it and the mayor didn’t show up.

He is something else! He makes former Prime Minister Trudeau (a good pal of Fidel) look almost like a Canadian Barry Goldwater by comparison. Thinking multi-nationally, I used to consider Trudeau to be the worst North American leader ever, followed by Jimmuh Carter. Now, they fall a distant 2nd and 3rd to the Kenyan Pres__ent.

Isn't that gross polygamy - marrying 84 people??

Betty Crocker's Aug. 1 wedding donations are icing on the cake

Snips: Betty Crocker is donating individual cakes to the first three couples to be married in the Twin Cities, as well as a giant cake for the 60 other couples to be wed at Minneapolis’ City Hall in overnight ceremonies Aug. 1.

For all concerned, this particular product placement is, well, the proverbial icing. Long considered one of the nation’s leading LGBT-friendly employers, General Mills took a strong public stance against a proposed constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriage.

Employees walked past small but persistent groups of protesters after CEO Ken Powell announced the company’s position. And he and other executives made personal donations of tens of thousands to the campaign to defeat the ballot question.

No. They usually get married in churches, but that will be the next lawsuit—to force churches to “marry” sodomites.

You will if you live in some parts of Europe. A wedding performed by the Mayor or other duly constituted officers of the law are what counts. A marriage in a church is symbolic, and in my part of Europe, it’s not considered as being legalized until it’s performed by the Mayor or other officers of the law (judge, registrar, etc.).

And I’ve known plenty of straight folks in the US that have been married at a City Hall or a courthouse.

“Long considered one of the nation’s leading LGBT-friendly employers, General Mills took a strong public stance against a proposed constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriage.”

I was aware of that and since that time, General Mills products have no place in my kitchen - unless there’s no viable alternative.

Even sadder yet, General Mills has decided to “spike the ball in everyone’s faces” by making these cakes for the mass gay marriage event at Mpls’ City Hall.

I consider them contemptable and will still continue to boycott their products for the forseeable future.
