I’m happy with it, too. My blood sugar is now normal and I feel much better. But I look forward to the day when I won’t need it any more, if I get in shape and eat better.
“My doctor increase the dosage and for crying out loud I get the runs. That is what is useful for: Constipation LOL”
Yeah, same here, but worth it.
I've been taking metformin for about a year, and have had no side effects that I've noticed. After being diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I changed my eating/drinking habits and started exercising, and have lost 25 lbs in the past year. My doc says metformin actually helps with weight loss; so I am surprised that some here are saying it cause weight gain.
FYI The delayed release version of the drug helps with that tremendously. My husband had the same problem until his doctor switched him. Made an enormous difference.
Thanks, will do, he’s very flexible and realizes I’m intelligent enough to run good drug trials with myself as the guinea pig.
I do get great A1Cs since starting it several yrs ago.
Wow. Have had none of those issues.
Then again i was prescribed it for blood sugar/pcos issues. Nothing like a tumor. Aie.
From the article: “And other work has shown that metformin can help stop pre-diabetes before it turns into type 2 diabetes...”
My family is ridden with diabetes. I do not have it and I attribute that to a) luck, b) keeping my weight down (175 lbs. on 6’2” frame), and c) taking Metformin daily. My doctor thinks that that drug will continue to help me ward off the disease.
The article suggests that I’ll get other benefits.
BOOKbump
My husband was on metformin for about ten yrs when his doctor took him off of it because “in medical school we had a patient to die from it”. Apparently you build up a saturation of the drug. He got off of it and got Alzheimer’s.
