JACKSON, MISS. — A posse of state officials and gun advocates has asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to let them file briefs in support of the state's open-carry law.

The court had not ruled Tuesday on the requests by Gov. Phil Bryant, about 80 lawmakers, the National Rifle Association and others. Their motions included arguments supporting the law.

A brief has not yet been filed with the high court by those who challenged the open-carry law, including Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith.

Earlier this month, Hinds County Circuit Judge Winston Kidd declared the law unconstitutionally vague. Attorney General Jim Hood asked the Supreme Court on July 22 to overturn Kidd's ruling...

Hinds County Circuit Judge Winston Kidd needs his own neck-tie party, with a 13 loop, slip-knot.

Shocker, I know, but Hood’s office even wrote that Kidd and those who sued to overturn the law were trying to use the courts to change a policy they disagreed with!!!!

Screw the judge....the Gov should simply order a directive to law enforcement to ignore the ruling and people should just start open carrying.

let the judge pound sand.

,,, the Gov should simply order a directive to law enforcement to ignore the ruling and people should just start open carrying.

All the people should be able to, not just some.

In Mississippi, this might meet a little resistance.

“Attorney General Jim Hood asked the Supreme Court on July 22 to overturn Kidd’s ruling.”

AG jim hoods office dictated that judge kidd’s order would apply to all the state and not just Hinds County.

AG jim hood is responsible for the problems that led to this law being passed. So now he’s saying we have a right to carry open and always did and that that an inadvertant exposure of a concealed weapon should not be a violation?

Watch out for jim hood, it’s a trick, he’s trying to hide among the good guys, he’s already shown his true colors and his position on concealed carry and open carry.
