Presidential primary rules are different from most state election rules. Graham needs 50%+ or he gets a run-off with ONE challenger. Think Cruz/Dewhurst.

After the opposition candidates announce, let them have a couple of months to see which one appeals most to the voters (polls).

Then, and especially by the first of the year, the conservatives/Tea Party should select that one.

Otherwise, multiple candidates will dilute the vote.

[Chances are that some of those are actually backed by political groups supporting Graham — for the purpose of diluting the opposition.]

As usual, conservatives are set up to split the vote against worms such as Graham. The TEA Party should endorse one candidate and push the others out of the way. They may have been paid by the GOP-e to divide and conquer for Linseed.
******************************************************************
You couldn’t be more wrong. You folks need to understand South Carolina election law. The more candidates, the more likely that Graham will be kept from getting to the 50% threshhold he needs to avoid a runoff. If forced into a runoff of the top two finishers in the primary, Graham will face the top conservative challenger. The challenger will have had time to gather more name recognition and Little Lindsey will have had to somewhat depleted his campaign funds. In the runoff, in which highly motivated conservatives will be most likely to turn out in large numbers, it will be easier to defeat Graham than to attempt to defeat him in the primary with a single opponent.

More conservatives need to understand the details of exactly how state primary elections work.

Graham will have a run-off election against one opponent if he doesn't get 50%+ in the first round. The more the merrier.

Is the SC GOP primary first-past-the-post or is there a run-off is no one gets a majority? If there’s not a run-off, two of the challengers better drop out before their names get on the ballot, because otherwise the anti-Graham vote will split and he’ll get the nomination again.

Hmmm... if those are the rules, we need to find some folks who will create a contested Democrat primary so the ‘Rats won’t cross over to vote in the GOP primary — ideally a black conservative, or at least a black candidate well to the right of Graham, and a really looney-left type who fancies that by running he’s preventing the Tea Party from getting the seat — probably if a black conservative ran for the Democrat nomination a looney-left type or three would jump in without any trickery to induce them to join the race.
