Miami Dolphins Owner Recruits Puppet Candidates for State
MT ^ | August 01, 2013 | James Taylor

Stephen Ross, the billionaire owner of the Miami Dolphins, is recruiting tax-and-spend puppet candidates to challenge fiscally conservative Florida Republican state legislators in the 2014 Republican primaries. The New York real estate investor’s actions are the latest in his campaign of personal destruction against fiscal conservatives who voted against massive taxpayer subsidies for Ross’ Sun Life Stadium.

Ross, a real estate investor from Michigan who now lives in New York, owns 95 percent of the Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium. Ross sought funding this year from Florida state and local taxpayers to cover much of the expenses for $350 million in upgrades he desired for Sun Life Stadium. After the Florida legislature rejected his demands for public funding of his privately owned stadium, Ross turned his fury on Republican lawmakers who voted against the subsidies. Ross directed particular wrath against Miami-based state legislators Michael Bileca and Carlos Trujillo.

...

Ross appears to be taking a daring risk by recruiting puppet political candidates and so venomously attacking local elected officials for refusing to give him money. Taxpayer subsidies for sports stadiums are notoriously unpopular in Florida and nationally. By making the Miami Dolphins a political football in the battle over handing over taxpayer subsidies to absentee owners of sports franchises, Ross risks turning local residents against the Dolphins just as Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria turned local residents against his baseball team after fleecing millions of tax dollars from local residents.

This is the degenerate prick who managed to get a "special election" called with only this one issue on the ballot.

Imagine my surprise when I received my absentee ballot in the mail and this robbery attempt was the only item on it.

This at the same time the other degenerate prick Loria is putting a minor league team on the field and pocketing a hundred million bucks this season after conning the chumps into a new stadium

Dolphins suck and are a bunch of greedy crooks.

Loudmouth New York douchebag Ross wants to target conservatives, they are going to target him and his team right back.

Still don't like commies too much down in Miami.

Miami is a true third world sh_t hole.I thought it was bad in 1970 when I left. I can only imagine what it is now.Dolphins get a lot of support from Broward,Palm Bch. and Martin counties.Dade County surely gives them some support but not all.

We have the same problem here in Jacksonville — Jags want a $63M scoreboard. Owner of Jags is a billionaire. $63M is chump change for him (he just paid $250M for an ENGLISH! soccer team!), and he wants Jax taxpayers to fund part of the scoreboard.

Excuse me!

Buy the damn thing yourself, Mr. Kahn! We cannot afford it! You can!

Dade County government has the fleecing of the residents down to a science.

Learned from their fellow travelers in NYC.

It took a while for me to find it, wow, but H. Wayne Huizenga — Dutch descent, but from Chicago, merely went to college here in Grand Rapids — has founded three different companies which wound up Fortune 500. He bought a stake in the team after Joe Robbie had died and the family was “struggling” (it sez here), then bought the rest, pulled Joe Robbie’s name off the stadium, renamed it four or five times, sold half of the team and the stadium to this new joker, then sold all but 5% to the same guy.

Wow, only 30% huh?

Let him pay his own bills, if he wants to move the team, well, bye.

I’ve met Mr. Bileca, if only very briefly, when he was mailing campaign literature. He was a complete gentleman during what is usually a tedious process and treated everyone around him with courtesy, a telling measure of character, unlike other candidates I’ve encountered under the same circumstances, including one caught trying to steal a pallet jack, lol.

Actually, its a zero sum game. Oh, and did you know the NFL does not pay room tax for their hotel rooms?

Forcefully taking from taxpayers to give to the private interests of billionaires doesn’t sound like a free market to me.

Also, he was putting up 70% of his own money for the cost of the new stadium, asking only for 30% being subsidized from the tax payer

We've just been through this in Minnesota with Zygmunt Wilf hijacking the taxpayers to the tune of $975 million for a new playground. One of our columnists finally got around to breaking down the numbers (the Minneapolis RedStar Tribune made some cash on this due to owning some land used in development). When you say an owner will put up 'his own money', this is what he means ...

"The city of Minneapolis is on the hook for $309 million in construction and operation costs for the new stadium. Throw in interest payments for 30 years and that becomes $678 million.

As a reminder, here’s the breakdown on the alleged $477 million the Vikings are putting into the $975 million project:

The $200 million “loan’’ from the NFL? The Vikings will pay that back with club seat money they would normally share with the league. Ninety-seven percent (31/32nds) of the money the Wilfs will use to pay back the NFL is money that would have gone to their NFL partners anyway.

Naming rights? With the economy rebounded (my note...'uh huh'...) and the NFL red hot, I’m estimating $10 million a year. Zygi won’t get it all up front, but he can take the deal to the bank, pick up a quick $150 million to $200 million and pay it off as the sponsor’s checks come in.

Let’s go with $100 million as Zygi’s remaining expense — and personal seat fees can cover as much of that as the Vikings have the audacity to extract."

***his campaign of personal destruction against fiscal conservatives who voted against massive taxpayer subsidies for Ross’ Sun Life Stadium***

Always for a bowl of pottage!!! We continually sell our birthright for a bowl of pottage... and, of course, like almost all libs, he has his... to H*ll with everyone else. Of course the time will come when his new-found friends will come after him... It's called MARXISM!

What did Julius Caesar say on the steps of the Senate? Then die, Caesar... Let's hope it doesn't come to that for the honest tax-paying working person in this country.

Marlins get two criminal owners in a row. Bad for MLB, bad for Florida.
