The Other Benghazi Scandal: Journalists Worry Covering The Attack Threatens White House Access
Mediaite ^ | Monday, August 5, 2013 | Noah Rothman

As the one year anniversary of the deadly attack on an American consulate in Benghazi approaches, journalists have begun to take another look into the scandal surrounding the government’s response to that terrorist event. Last week, CNN aired two striking reports revealing that the Central Intelligence Agency had a large number of agents on the ground on the night of the attack and that a suspect in the attack has never been interviewed by investigators. Following these revelatory reports, which some in President Barack Obama’s administration believe represent a political threat, some CNN reporters now fear for their access to the White House. They are not alone.

On July 31, CNN’s The Situation Room broadcast a portion of an interview conducted by reporter Arwa Damon with a suspect in the Benghazi attacks. The suspect revealed to Damon that no investigator has attempted to contact him regarding his involvement in that deadly assault. The following day, CNN’s Drew Griffin broke the news that more than 30 CIA agents were on the ground in Libya on the day of the attack and they are being pressured by the spy agency to not reveal to reporters or congressional investigators what they know of the events of that night.

Some CNN reporters are reportedly fearful now that their access to the White House will be hampered following their probing into a story that members of the Obama administration would prefer remain uninvestigated.

“Access is a very serious consideration when it comes to stories that could adversely impact a show, correspondent, or network’s relationship with the administration, a campaign, or any political leader,” one source with insider information told Mediaite.

Good piece by Noah Rothman. He should have included reporters' fear of being spied on by Obama.

Funny. They never seem worried when a scandal breaks out on a GOP
president.

Access to what? The White House just tells the lies they want spread, anyway. Journalists aren’t getting genuine “inside” access, and haven’t for a long time.

What rubbish. The “media” could go to war with the Obama administration over any lack of access — completely creaming him in terms of public perception.

They could destroy his administration over this issue, and probably bring about his impeachment if they treated him the way they treated Nixon.

I think if the media stood up to Obama over lack of access, he would cave in a hurry.

But they’d rather treat him the way CNN treated Sadam Hussein — printing his lies so that they wouldn’t be kicked out of Baghdad.

I think they forgot how to actually DO journalism.

They’re not capable of the ‘leg work’... so they have to hang around the flagpole and beg for lies from the paid liars there.

Cowards. They obviously don’t consider where their loyalties should be, the American people, not the White House.

On the other hand, why should they care? Press briefings are a joke, what *real* information do they get? Personally, I don’t see what a big deal it’d be, they should know they’re just being led down a path even with access...

The White House needs the MSM more than vice versa.

That’s rich! If so-called journalists were to stop attending press statements and reporting on this administration, who would cry loudest, the press, or the pu$$y?

LOL

As if that's the ONLY issue they are not allowed to cover!

Under threats of losing their jobs, losing "access", losing their Earnings from an IRS Audit, etc., etc.

Absent in the coverage of the Birth Certificate/Eligibility Fraud, Fraudulant Voting Convictions nation-wide of Democrats, Executive Order abuse, Selective-Enforcement of Existing Laws, Regulatory mandates to circumvent Congress, Race-Mongering on behalf of the DNC/The Messiah, etc., etc.

There is NO journalism in the mainstream Press, nor is their Journalism in the State-Run-Media....the Talking Points come straight from the White Hut, or the DNC, and the "news" is so biased to the Left as to be bullshit.

The Other Benghazi Scandal: Journalists Worry Covering The Attack Threatens White House

Access to what? All the POS scumbags in this regime lie daily, which you dutifully spew forth without a single iota of thought, analysis, or skepticism, even after years of willingly accepting the abuse. You are immoral, perverted, diseased little communist sympathizers and enablers, disinterested in providing the truth about the jug-eared moron, so don't start these pathetic attempts at covering your own worthless, pathetic a$$es for not doing your job for nearly five years.

Well, heck. I sure wouldn't want to hear lies second.

Gee, you’d think journalists would be afraid NOT to tell the Truth. Isn’t that their mandate?

although indirectly, the MSM pukes finally admit that their covering WH lies is more important than standing for or seeking the truth as they concern themselves for access to the WH and DC lie fest.

If this doesn’t prove the WH tells the media what to say, nothing will.
