Chalk it up as an unintended consequence of Obamacare: a growing number of U.S. employers are aiming to cut their healthcare costs by shifting retirees into the law’s new public insurance exchanges, which launch this October.
Detroit, which filed for bankruptcy, hopes to push retirees who are too young for Medicare onto the new public insurance exchanges as a way of shedding healthcare liabilities. Chicago has proposed a plan to migrate most of its 30,000 under-65 retirees to the state exchanges by 2017. And, in the private sector, more than 60 percent of employers are reassessing their retiree health coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to a study to be released this week by Aon Hewitt, the benefits consulting firm. …

I’m almost to the point where I’d like to see Obummercare fully implemented, just so the idiots who voted for him can see what a disaster it is and I can say “I told you so”.
I just suspect the people that need to hear that message the most, will somehow be able to avoid the worst downside.
It’s folks like us that will feel the full brunt of the monstrosity.
A 60 year old couple Earning $30,000/Year ($2,500/month) will pay $1,249/month for the silver plan in CA. That’s 50% of their income. But they will get a tax credit the next year. So 11 months eating cat food.
That cash flow sucks.

There were no unintended consequences of Obamacare. Everything that is happening was an obvious consequence of the law and predicted by those who opposed it. Unfortunately, the media, otherwise known as the Democrat Party propaganda arm, chose to cover up these predictions and paint a completely false view of what a wonderful law this would be.
I explained to a black co-worker yesterday that “ObamaCare” doesn’t mean every American gets a new gubmint insurance card they can use at whatever medicall facility they’d like. When I explained that the law simply meant “buy health insurance or else”, he stopped to think about it (his children are reaching the age when they’ll be off his plan soon). I then had to explain that his twenty-something year-olds were going to be paying for the treatments of the fifty-something year-olds; he wasn’t happy (though I couldn’t care less).
