RIP.
I was about to post the same story. Good friend of mine lives 3 blocks away and didn’t hear a thing. He was working from home and had the AC on. He’s pretty shaken up being so close.
The pilot was retired Microsoft VP, Bill Henningsgaard. According to other reports, he had his 17 year old son with him & they were checking out college in this area. Henningsgaard had another crash landing in 2009, but he survived that one (Why was he still flying?)
The crash took the lives of the two kids in the house that was hit, a 13 year old boy and a one year old!! Mom and neighbors tried to get back into the house and get the kids out but the fire was too strong. One eye witness said it was an explosion.
Very sad time. Bet that’s the end of Tweed New Haven.
I was posted in my ambulance a mile away while two other rigs were at the scene helping firefighters. When we heard “house” and “no patients” we knew it was bad. Rotten day to be flying. RIP.
The troubles have returned to Haven?
Yeah, bad day.
As to why was he still flying? Most people don’t quit driving when the have a traffic accident.
What was the ceiling and viz at the time?
For some reason, I see the hint of weather in the comments.
