I would like to mention Kahalani’s gunner during Yom Kippur war, late David Kilyon Z”l.It was an honor to serve with him.
A quality of most Russian-made products has dramatically improved as soon as they have ditched older Soviet production practices and dismantled unions.
Also, modern electronics (like fire control systems regarding tanks) is not that makes a gap for US products as soon as most electronics are based on Taiwanese components and many extremely high tech solutions can be made by talented integrators very cheaply.

It is in Russian but you can see a production line and how it is being built, you can see a detailed target practice with it’s user interface etc.
It doesn’t look inferior for sure.
I think back to the opening scenes of “Castaway” when Tom Hanks was in Moscow showing the Russians how FedEx does things.
I suspect the Russians have taken those lessons to heart.
