Were talking about non-profit hospitals, but a sizable percentage of them are religious hospitals affiliated with the Catholic Church, various Jewish and Protestant hospitals, formerly or currently representing some religious status.
Catholic hospitals make up some of the largest non-profits in the country. Indeed the top four systems in the country are Catholic.
Next on the list is Kaiser Permanente, which is non-religious and which Obama described as a model for Obamacare. Its CEO, George Halvorson, has met with Obama and his top people and pushed Obamacare.
Draw your own conclusions. In either case, the Obamacare non-profit clampdown will empower the IRS to effectively shut down non-profit hospitals.
Healthcare experts warn that the Obamacares new requirements make it almost impossible for charitable hospitals to navigate treacherous new waters.
It requires tax-exempt hospitals to do a community needs survey and file additional paperwork with the IRS every three years. This is to prove that the charitable hospital is still needed in their geographical area needed as defined by Obamacare and overseen by IRS bureaucrats, said John Kartch, spokesman for Americans for Tax Reform.
Failure to comply, or to prove this continuing need, could result in the loss of the hospitals tax-exempt status. The hospital would then become a for-profit venture, paying income tax hence the positive revenue score for the federal government, Kartch said.
Additionally, the rise in the number of insured Americans under Obamacare will make it more difficult for tax-exempt hospitals to continue meeting required thresholds for treating the uninsured, driving more hospitals into the for-profit category and yielding more taxable money for the federal government.
Obamacares new requirements could slam hospitals with massive $50,000 fines if they fail to meet bureaucrats standards.

As it will be for us all. This is Obamas America after all. Charity was outlawed in the USSR. It will be outlawed in OSSR if things go that far.
If you do some research on Catholic Charities, for example, you'll likely get a sense that it's really just an enormous business, not a charity.
It does make me wonder if there will be a real election in 2016.
Obama's the President of black Americans and white liberal elites. That's it. No others...
Christians need to wake up to the fact that the political left is out to ELIMINATE Christianity.
In every state, adoption agencies need to be licensed even if they are totally, 100% private with no govt. money at all. In an increasing number of states, all adoption agencies, even private and church-related, are required to make adoptive children available to homosexuals.
That is why Catholic adoption agencies have been shut down by law in Illinois, Massachusetts, California and elsewhere. Soon, I fear, coast-to-coast.
OK. As of now, nobody can be forced to actually perform an abortion. But that's it. Catholic hospitals are now, right NOW being told they can't deny admitting privileges to abortionists. Plus Catholic hospitals, as employers, must offer the same contraceptive, sterilization, morning-after-pill coverage to every employee as part of their HHS-mandated insurance benefit.
If I thought the bishops, the hospitals themselves, the nuns' religious orders which still influence or control the boards of directors and trustees, the Catholic Health Association and so forth, were going to gird up their loins and sound forth the trumpet on this one, I would grab my torch and pitchfork and run to the roar --- so would hundreds of thousands of other Catholics.
But I hear
: : : crickets : : :
And I see no strategy being put forth to fight this thing.
That's what blows my mind: the institutions which were supposed to FIGHT Obamacare, the only ones who can --- the Catholic healthcare systems, the other health nonprofits, the Republican party for Godsake --- are silent. Divided within themselves. Or running up the white flag and handing Obama the keys to the city.

Not actually state atheism, more like either atheism or Islam, take you pick.

And the tyrannical push to destroy religion and morality continues at warp speed. Too bad there is no opposition party.
Anyone wanting on/off any of my pinglists, freepmail me. Apologies for neglecting my lists for a while - ultra busy - and I appreciate all alerts to relevant articles.
Where is moral courage, Mrs?? Where are the courageous people standing up for God, for morality, for our rights and freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution? And we as individuals can really do nothing. We live under (supposedly) a representative Republic, not a pure democracy.
Where is the opposition to this tyranny?
There wasn’t one in 2012. Why would there be one in 2016?
The state or State should not be involved in adoptions, ever ever ever.
How dare they do a better job than government, this cannot be allowed... what do you think this is, a free country or something?
Please do not confuse wealth with money. The Church and its associated institutions own a lot of valuable property. But that is not money. They do not take loans on the property and I doubt is banks would give loans. I own a home worth a lot of money, but Stop and Shop is not going to take a promissory note on my home for payment. Church institutions have sold off properties. Recently the Jesuits sold a magnificent Long Island mansion for some millions of dollars. That cash will go to maintaining the order’s works, its school and colleges and missionary work. But to think the Church has the liquid assets of Mike Blomberg is wrong.
Ping for later. You just asked the questions that have been swirling in my head for months.
A great many of the “Catholic” voters would have no issue with this.
“Catholic” doesn’t mean the same as “Practicing Catholic”.
So Hospitals foot the bill for illegals, but that not good enough for the libs.... They smelled blood and want MORE MORE MORE>....
“The amount of money and resources of the Catholic Church rivals a developed country.”
Why on earth would that make a difference? I am aware of very close relative who has been hospitalized in a local Catholic Hospital twice in the past year. The first time saved her life. I will tell you the place was loaded with patients will all kind of ailments in need. Obamacare is a nightmare.
Swirling in my head for months too, or longer, but really reaching a crescendo.
So, is this just so they can collect taxes from the hospitals if they make them “for profit”?
