“We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor” — Snowden did this more than most people. He risked it all to do what he thought he had to do for his country.

By his own admission, he joined the NSA specifically to betray secrets.

Then he took those secrets and ran to any communist country that would have him. China, Russia, hell, he was shopping around for Cuba and Venezuela too.

Somehow he doesn’t seem the Patrick Henry type.

He's a hero in my book until proven otherwise (and not by an Obama court).

Obama hates America...anyone who rebels against the tyranny of Obama is a patriot.

Hold on...there is a knocking at my front door...

Minor correction: it's not Russia, it's the Soviet Union.

I’m not sure that we learned anything new from Snowden except confirmation that the US Government is collecting data, emails and recording telephone calls on US citizens.

I TOTALLY agree. Mr. Edward Snowden is a PATRIOT! What COURAGE has shown! Our “government” is NOTHING but lies!

You can tell a lot about a man by his enemies.

And Snowden’s biggest enemy is a gay muslim Constitution-hater who gets our people killed and then lies about it.

GOOD GOING SNOWDEN...!

Let’s see who the kneepad-wearing badge-lickers are..!

Let’s get some real knee-padded quislings, come on guys, come on out..!

Eric Snowden is a POS traitor who’s actions jeopardized patriot’s lives. I retired from active duty in ‘02 & I was read out of programs that I’m sure have been declassified by now. Yet out of a sense of deep seeded patriotism I’ll never speak of programs that I know protected American lives. To see this Snowden coward embraced by some conservatives shakes my confidence in conservatism. Cheney is RIGHT, Snowden is not a patriot!

Does anyone with more sense than a rock (necessarily excludes Progressives) think for a second that they are building a gigantic data storage site in Utah just to keep the phone number, length of call, etc. metadata information that could easily be stored on a couple large servers? They are collecting all the information for calls, emails, financial transactions, and every thing electronic.

As I recall, he tried other nations first, and only Russia, Venezuela, etc. would accept him.

Bless you, Snowden. We all had some vague and hazey idea that we were being spied on. Snowden clarified that. It was far worse than we ever dreamed.

He is neither hero, nor a traitor, but luckily for us, many of his actions will have benefited us.

Snowden is an ethically challenged useful idiot who did not use the resources available to him to make his concerns known to those who are responsible.

I do not believe, at the moment, they have to ability to “listen” to all phone conversations, but, with the phone numbers in the meta data they can rapidly drill down and listen to the conversations of interest if the conversations are recorded. It is when conversations can be analyzed in real time that I believe that the boundary has been overstepped. Your conduct is in the national interest and you have to prove you are innocent instead of proven guilty.

The “system” did not prevent 9-11.

Those who violate the 4th Amendment and peeping tom my emails are despicable pigs!

I don’t see him as a hero. He was a leftist, who took the oath of secrecy with the deliberate intention of violating it. I don’t think he is a very nice guy.

That said, no question that what he did has benefitted the country, especially because he did it while Obama was in charge. Probably he would have been happier doing it when Bush was in charge, but never mind.

I think this is a case of the left betraying the left—an internal quarrel in the ranks of liberals. But I certainly agree that it has done a lot more good than harm.
