There is an old movie THE PHANTOM PRESIDENT(1932). In it, George M Cohan is mistaken for a presidential candidate and Jimmy Durante is his shill.
In one scene Jimmy gives his spiel outside the Presidential convention, the camera then pans to the rear end of a police horse as the horse’s butt slowly fades to a politician giving a speech.
