I think it’s ridiculous that Facebook doesn’t automatically strip the location from the metadata of images posted on its site. They have always processed images to reduce resolution and file size. It’s just as easy to remove all metadata.

Not if the NSA tells them to keep it.

Not if the NSA tells them to keep it.

If the NSA wants the medadata, Facebook could keep that separately without posting it online. Alternatively, they could encrypt the metadata so only the NSA could read it.
