FORT HOOD
The past few days have featured harrowing testimony from witnesses and victims who described the gruesome, blood-soaked scene inside the medical processing center where Maj. Nidal Hasan killed 13. Yesterday columnist Ken Herman sat in the courtroom and described the scene in todays Statesman:
In a day of often harrowing testimony It was squirting across the room, victim Mick Engnehl testified when asked how he knew he was bleeding I found the most disturbing moments to be the silent ones, when prosecutors, in advance of offering them as evidence, handed Hasan small containers holding bullets recovered from victims.
Hasan, emotionless, briefly took the containers in his hand, nodded and gave them back to the prosecutor. He had no objections, just as he had no questions for any of Mondays witnesses.
Today the action is expected to shift from witness descriptions to testimony from government experts. So far, more than 60 witnesses have testified as the prosecution maintains its blistering pace, aided by a lack of cross-examinations from Hasan.
We also await an Army appeals court ruling on Hasans military appointed standby lawyers to either be removed from the case or take over the defense. They are convinced that Hasan, who is representing himself, is seeking the death penalty and want nothing to do what they call a morally repugnant defense strategy.
And this week Hasan continues to release pages of his sanity board report, this time to the New York Times. Through his civilian attorney John Galligan, Hasan had previously released pages of the 49-page report to Fox News. In the latest release, Hasan indicates he does not fear death: Im paraplegic and could be in jail for the rest of my life. However, if I died by lethal injection I would still be a martyr.
“Yep, he’s a Muzzie murderer.”
Put him in a cell forever and watch him go nuts.
Im paraplegic

Like someone murdering their parents and then claiming “I’m an orphan”
He neglected to say how he became a paraplegic..
All I can say is to keep repeating, what a farce.
Many people, particularly anti DP types, say that life in a small cell is worse than the DP.Statistics suggest otherwise...about 99% of those sentenced to death appeal...and appeal...and appeal. For decades.Even that filthbag Mumia is trying to get off death row.One would think that he'd want "martyrdom".The test is...give them a length of rope and a place to attach it.If they use it to kill themselves (rather than in an attempt to escape) you know they wanted to die.
And that’s about all that CAN be said.
There are so many steaming piles out there.
After Hasan is convicted, his entire chain of command will be rightly crucified with wrongful death lawsuits. His rater, senior rater, up to the Army chief of staff and the Secy Army, they all should now be sweating bullets with the trial finally under way.
In this twisted fashion, an ungrateful Hasan is giving the finger to the officers who enabled his career even while he radicalized into a jihadi killer.
Be sure to add some bacon fat to that needle.
