McCoy put his arm over Bowers shoulder, and then they held hands. Bowers leaned to his partner of seven years and murmured the words to the Lesley Gore classic Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. They chatted, fingers interlocked.
If youre going to do that, youre going to the back of the bus, the bus driver abruptly said, turning a furious face to them. After a surprised Huh?, the couple says the driver told them to move to the back of the bus immediately.

In a statement released this week, Standard Parking apologized to the couple for any disrespectful treatment they received in New Mexico. The driver was suspended and the entire transportation staff will retake sensitivity training, said Standard Parking Executive Vice President Michael Wolf.
Bowers and McCoy say that apology was too little, too late.
Some fluffy thing like sensitivity training, thats really quite ambiguous, McCoy said. I want to have a better sense of assurance that this is going to be lasting corporate change that will not drift away and fade as this news story fades.

Good for this bus driver. New Mexico has it’s share of new age hippie types and democrats. But it also has a solid helping of old west traditional types.
Im glad someone had the balls to tell them to knock it off. They were supposedly doing this in front of kids.
Groveling, apologizing, suspending, sensitivity training. Standard procedure for the unforgiveable sin of violating political correctness.
Too bad there’s not as much outrage over assaults, beating up, theft, rape and murder.
I’d say this to any couple making out in the bus — other people getting on and off the bus don’t want to see your inappropriate physical behavior.
