'Duck Dynasty' star reportedly eyed by Republicans as potential House candidate

Does "Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson have his sights on Congress?

According to a new report, Republican strategists are suddenly interested in recruiting Robertson to run for an open congressional seat in Louisiana. The speculation follows GOP Rep. Rodney Alexander announcing his retirement from Congress last week, as a result of his frustration with Washington gridlock.

A special election to fill the seat is scheduled for Oct. 19.

The bearded, 41-year-old Robertson co-stars in the hit A&E reality show and is a self-described “redneck millionaire.”

Sadly, any man smart enough to make a duck call is also smart enough to stay the heck out of the swamp that is U.S. politics.

That may be why they are talking about Willie and not Phil nor Jase.

Love DD. at first I thought they’d be ok if they trimmed those beards, but not now. It’s part of who they are. Anyone who ends their show sitting down at dinner with family and thanking God for all their blessings is ok with me.

I love the show. There's always a moral. They pray over dinner at the end of each episode. They all seem like good people.

Willie, however, seems like a luke-warm conservative at best.

I think Mountain Man would make a good congressman. He deliberates well...

My association with full beards (outside of Duck Dynasty) is a bit different.

Therein is one of life’s great mysteries. The guy named Beard is clean shaven.

Frank Beard used to live in our neighborhood. My father-in-law played golf with him.

Oh, please! Leave those people alone. They are happy with their lives, why should they want to enter the swamp of politics? You have to check your soul at the door before you enter.

Or Walmart, which is where I got mine.

Even had people compliment me when I am wearing one and ask me where I got it.
