Some threads are just begging to be hijacked. The best ones are when the OP posts crap like this.

The Tenaha police and any cops like them are nothing more than bandits with badges.

And any law abiding citizen treating these criminals as the bandits they are would not offend me in the least.

How is this ‘crap’?

Fighting back against arbitrary searches and seizures is ‘crap’ to you? Are you sure you’re on the right website?

There are arguments to be made for and against current forfeiture laws.In certain circumstances the police should be able to seize...TEMPORARILY...cash and other things of value pending criminal investigation. The law should read that criminal charges that are *connected* to the cash/things seized must be filed within 15 business days of seizure. If such charges are not filed the cash/things must be returned. And if it’s returned within that time all costs incurred by the “owner” must be reimbursed by the state/county/city/town involved.

the officer asked if he and his partner could search the car

And they let him? You answer "no". see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDJrQBwJpqk

Apparently we’re not allowed to post much of anything from that source...not even a simple quotation.

It’s still a good article and I’m pleased that the OP posted at least the link so I could go read it.

That would be fair and sensible.

"There are arguments to be made for and against current forfeiture laws."

There's a hell of a lot more arguments against.

And they hold you until a compliant judge issues the warrant. Or they bring in the K 9 and he “ alerts” on your vehicle ( easy to get with a well trained dog a subtle hand signal). Pretty much a no win situation.

But if you agree to a search you lose any chance of your lawyer getting anything found in it excluded from evidence against you. Keep in mind, in at least one state it is a felony to have a hidden compartment in your car. Sure, you will have a chance to spend your life savings proving your innocence and that it was done by the previous owner, but its easier to just have your lawyer quash it early.

Time I've got.

Or they bring in the K 9 and he “ alerts” on your vehicle ( easy to get with a well trained dog a subtle hand signal).

I have never consented to a search of my vehicle....ever. I have been asked several times in traffic stops over the years in various states, and I respond in the negative. The cop will suggest that they can get a warrant, and I respond with, "fine...get one". I've got nothing on me, no prior convictions for anything but a history of a lead foot.

Did any of the cops ever get a warrant or bring in a dog?

Nope...they always walked back to their cars in a huff and never came back with anything but the speeding ticket.
