...Some think it's time for a new American revolution.
...Moreover, many of the preconditions for a revolt exist.
Before specifying some indications of the potential for revolution in the U.S., let me mention several conditions noted by the historian Crane Brinton (1898-1968) in The Anatomy of Revolution (1938, 1952, 1965). Brinton studied revolutions in four western countries: Great Britain in the 1640s, America in the late 18th century, France a few years later, and the Russian revolutions of 1917.
...In each country, just before revolution broke out, there were indications that the old regime was increasingly dysfunctional. The four governments faced huge budget deficits. Citizens complained -- far more than normal -- about excessive taxation. There were conspicuous decisions by which the central government favored some economic interests over others. There were also well-publicized instances of government malfeasance and/or corruption.
Brinton identified two other important developments in pre-revolutionary societies: (1) members of the ruling class lost self-confidence, leading to that class' increasing ineptitude; and (2) the intelligentsia were alienated from the old regime.
As before, are any bells ringing? Now we're ready to look at developments in America, and ask if they foretell revolutionary change. I shall focus on public opinion polls. Brinton lacked access to reliable information about public opinion in the four countries: i.e., polls conducted by modern methods.
It would require too many words to relate all facets of recent polls that reveal the potential for a new American revolution. I concentrate on the most important. Others could readily be added.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter: Now then, tell me. What did Miggs say to you? Multiple Miggs in the next cell. He hissed at you. What did he say?
Little early for alcohol, what are you trying to say, you disagree with my comment??
“The revolution was effected before the war commenced.
The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people.
This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments,
and affections of the people was the real American Revolution.”
~John Adams~
I think that what you are referring to is a return to Constitutional Government. That is not going to happen because our side knows that they have too many creature comforts they are unwilling to give up.
It is only when freedom becomes more precious than life that people are willing to fight for it.
Here is an article from the American thinker that discusses the question very directly. Interesting that the topic is so mainstream at this point.
We’ve had a Revolution. A Marxist one.
We need a Restoration. A fight to restore our Constitutional Republic.
My Daughter’s birthday party is Saturday, but I’m free after that...
I was wondering why you hadn’t done a CWII Ping when you first posted this one (see - I’m paying attention :-P ).
Is any more time required?
How about Idaho too?
Please, before we even consider takng that final bloody, horrible step, our Founding Fathers did put in an escape hatch into the constitution for just such a time as this. We may be able to resolve this without blood. (Maybe not, but isn’t it worth trying?)
Our founding fathers knew sinful human nature, and they knew that someday the executive, legislative and judicial branches at the federal level would grab power and become totally oppressive. That is why our constitution almost wasn’t ratified. Many insisted that there needed to be some way for the STATES to correct an out of control situation, for that day that they saw might come sometime in the future. (How wise they were back in those days 200 years ago!)
They put in a way for We the People to get that power back via an end-run around the federal government, by having the STATES call a convention for constitutional amendments to address problems of an out of control federal government. BY THE WAY, this is NOT a constitutional convention. (Next part from Jacquerie - thank you)
“It would be a convention to propose amendments. Instead of congress proposing amendments, the states would get together to do the same.
In addition to 3/4 assent of the states to whatever the convention comes up with, another practical limitation is that attendees to the convention will be DELEGATES and not representatives. Delegates have commissions, limitations on what they can support.”
Revolution may be the only way out, but please, let’s consider and move forward with the Liberty Amendments first.
We can do this WITHOUT any of our worthless, hopeless, compromised RINO repubs OR any of the slimeball Marxist Dems at the Federal level!!! We can do this via the states!
When you look at the election maps of the states - I think there are enough states that are “red” that we could do this!(Especially since the convention could be one state- one vote - NOT by population apportionment).
Levin’s amendments include:(simplified listing from a reviewer on Amazon)- there are several more than these - but you get the drift.
1. Term limits, including for justices.
2. Repealing Amendment 17 and returning the election of senators to state legislatures
3. A congressional supermajority to override Supreme Court decisions (overruling what could be a stacked court)
4. Spending limit based on GDP
5. Taxation capped at 15%
6. Limiting the commerce clause, and strengthening private property rights
7. Power of states to override a federal statute by a three-fifths vote.
Revolt to what result? Revolutions don’t just roll back the clock.
I am not one of those who wants a revolution and your suggestion is a useful one. However, if it requires 3/4 of the states to do anything, it ain’t going to be useful. MA, MD, NH, RI, CT, CA, OR, WA are lost causes efore you even start.
If Egypt (and history) has taught us anything, it’s that Revolutions don’t necessarily give you the outcome you desire.
Something Glenn Beck has been saying for quite a while, and with something I tend to agree, is that the Progressives have been building their “foundation” for decades. They’ve been steps ahead of us...putting their plan, agenda, etc, in motion under our noses...or, keeping us preoccupied and distracted/complacent.
So, if a “revolt” happens, and we tear down the current system, who has their “foundation” in place to set up shop and start implementing their agenda first? Who is most organized? Or, what happens when there is no organization? As I said, Egypt can show us a lot to those questions.
No one really wants a bloody civil war. And does anyone, once thinking it through, really believe, we can rid ourselves of the Progressive cancer that has corrupted the system that easily? Does anyone honestly believe that isn’t something they are counting on...or worse, that they are wanting us to do? My take, is based on how this administration especially, has urged, prodded, pushed and done their damn best to provoke and divide, that is exactly what they want.
I say we do our best to follow the most peaceful path we can and exhaust every resource and opportunity to RESTORE this country the right way and let the “revolution” be a last resort.
Please note that I am thoroughly disgusted with the evil that these people have gotten away with thus far, and I too am finding myself asking, every day, when, when is enough enough? When will this be stopped? When will THEY be stopped. But I always follow that line of thinking, and realize it’s going to take more than just removing the a-holes in government. It’s society, culture and the way of thinking, that has to be changed too, in order to fully restore our country. IMO
Up!

Why would the government need AK’s and 7.62mm Pact ammo <<
I have a hunch Obama and his minions have been supplying the Muslims rebels with ammo in various parts of the world. That is not something our mil-ind-complex would object to because whenever there’s fighting going on they are making money.
