Tennis star Maria Sharapova has reportedly set in motion a plan to change her last name to Sugarpova for the duration of the U.S. Open. The Russian opened a candy company by that name and is said to have sunk half a million dollars into it.
According to several reports, Sharapova has approached the Florida Supreme Court about the possibility of changing her name.

I’m pretty sure she would not let me pour sugar on her.
The next time I see her I’m going to try to talk her into changing her name to Mrs. VeggieTodd. That is, unless she was serious about getting that restraining order....

Sad that a star athlete would be promoting a product that does not good to anyone’s health.

Just days before the start of the 2013 U.S. Open, third-seeded Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the tournament, citing continued problems with a right shoulder injury.
Sharapova has played only one match on tour since her surprising second-round exit from Wimbledon in June. Most recently, she made news earlier this week when seeking to play under the name “Maria Sugarpova,” a reference to her new brand of gummy candies.
