A hate-filled letter received by a family in Canada telling them to move out of the neighborhood or euthanize their autistic son has gone viral, prompting a flood of support for the family.

The letter began to receive attention after being posted on the Twitter account of Brad and MaryLynne Stella, the married couple that comprise the country duo The Stellas. Their daughters, Lennon, 14, and Maisy Stella, 9, who star as Maddie and Daphne Conrad on the hit TV show “Nashville,” also posted the photo to their joint Twitter account.

I’d bet they don’t want black people living next door, either. After I bet they’re liberals.

Silly mom.

Only gays and gender something or others have the law watching when they are offended.

Is this real?

Or a variation of Munchhausen’s by proxy?

I am not being facetious.

The Ontario mother said she had no idea who would send such a hateful letter, which left her family shocked and devastated. She tearfully told City News: "Who would do this to a child?"

Max does not know the contents of the letter drawing so much attention to him and his family, according to MaryLynne.

Quote B contradicts Quote A. It wasn't done to a child. He neither knows nor understands what's going on.

It was a mean thing to do to the family, but there are some nasty people in the world.

Crossed my mind also.

Also noted that nobody seems to find out if the kid does make scary noises when outside or does other disturbing things. Maybe people being disturbed or frightened by him is not irrational.

Both my daughters have done extensive volunteer work with retarded (or whatever the PC term now is) and autistic children. They have many, many stories of seriously disturbing and frightening behavior by them. Sometimes seriously violent.

The boy is a teenager and by looking at the picture in the article, he looks like about being around 14 years old

So what are you saying? You agree with the author of the hate letter?

Nope, just pointing out that the assumption that the neighbors have no legitimate complaints may not be accurate.

The perceptions of most people about “mentally-challenged” and autistic people is heavily influenced by TV and movies. Which generally portray them in unrealistic fashion.

A movie called Tropic Thunder brought up that a smart actor must never go “full retard” in his portrayal, or it will destroy his career. My daughters thought this was absolutely hilarious, as they dealt all the time with kids who were going “full retard,” not really having any choice in the matter.

IOW, autistic and mentally handicapped are often (usually) not nearly as much fun to be around as they are portrayed on TV and in movies.

Is the letter writer justified? Heck if I know. But the assumption that she cannot possibly have a legitimate complaint is IMO unjustified without further information. And I can guarantee you it is based almost entirely on the image of these people produced by MSM.

I will say that the author of the letter most certainly could have expressed her concerns in a more fitting manner.
