Washington Post Hits Ted Cruz With 12 'Birther' Stories In Two Days
Breitbart ^ | 8/21/13 | John Nolte

Posted on 08/21/2013 8:40:51 AM PDT by Lakeshark

Over the course of just two days, the Washington Post pounded its readers with 12 "birther" stories aimed at Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Headlines included, "Can Ted Cruz Run for President?", "Canadian Born Ted Cruz Releases Birth Certificate Amid Queries if He's Eligible for Presidential Run," "Ted Cruz: I am Not a Canadian," and "No, Ted Cruz "Birthers" are Not the Same as Obama Birthers":
**snip
Though there is no legal question as to Cruz's eligibility to run for president (Cruz was born an American citizen), the Post has spent the last 48 hours bedeviling the Hispanic senator with articles obviously meant to put him on defense and plant a seed of doubt in voters' minds.

The timing of the Post's assault is also curious. By accident or design, it dovetails perfectly with a widely criticized Daily Beast hit-piece on Cruz that also focuses on and questions Cruz's past and background.

Since being elected to the United States Senate in 2012, Cruz has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of President Obama and his signature healthcare plan, ObamaCare. The Washington Post has endorsed Obama for president, and frequently used its news and editorial pages to defend ObamaCare.

In the past, the Post has also launched crusades to destroy the careers of many Republicans, including US Senate candidate George Allen, presidential candidate Mitt Romney, presidential candidate Rick Perry, and current gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli -- among others. The Post's modus operandi is similar to what Cruz is currently facing: The Post floods the zone with stories critical of the Republican in an effort to undermine their candidacy through character assassination.

I don’t worry so much about the MSM hurting Cruz. I worry about the Rove/Lott RINOplex. They will try to destroy him right out of the gate.

It's a two front war, the MSM is trying to create wedges for conservatives to fight over Cruz. The RINO's complex will try to cluck him out by their usual cocktail party disdain for him.

So far......it doesn't seem to be working....so far.......

That rule is mitigated by timing and by location of the birth.

We have dissected it since 2007 but the mitigator is the point that the birth in the above regulation is one without a “legal” father (unmarried mother giving birth on foreign soil).

In Cruz’s case, the father was in a legal marriage and his father’s nationality, under common and accepted legal interpretaiton, determined Cruz’s citizenship at birth; he is simultaneously Candian by birth-location, Cuban by his father’s nationality and US by his mother’s nationality.

That tri-nationality directly mitigates against his Article 2 NBC eligibility.

Accordingly, this regulation does not touch on the NBC of Article 2, only the consideration of legal benefits of a US citizen. While this clarifies “citizenship” in a modern world of extensive travel, NBC was not changed according to what you cited.

NBC remained “born of 2 US citizens on US soil”, later agreed-to (amended to?) “on foreign soil while the parents were in service to the interests of US”.

CAVEAT (1): I’m on record agreeing to Obama’s citizenship as conferred by his umwed mother and birth on US sooil. What, then, is he hiding in his offical birth record and how was he enabled to attend US colleges after his stint in Indonesia?

CAVEAT (2): I think Cruz has represented me admirably in the US Senate and I will continue to suppiort him in his Senate endeavors.

Yep agreed. I can think of almost no one I’d like to be president then Cruz.

if 2016 fails to yield a conservative candidate, then I will either stay home, or if I am really disgusted I may even vote for the D, not because I support D’s in any way, but because I have had it and am utterly disgusted with the Chicken party.

Bwak, bwak, Mitch, bwak, bwak.

I do not believe that Cruz is eligible. I recognize that plenty of conservatives have the opposite view. The fact that there is legitimate debate within the conservative movement on the issue does not bode well for his candidacy, as the media would surely push the issue to split conservatives and distract general election voters. That said, I think he is a great senator and a real asset to the nation. There are plenty of very important ways to serve the country without being the president. One senator can have a big impact (look at how much damage McCain has caused over the years, for one example). So I would be very happy if Cruz stays in his current position for a very long time. Out of 300 million Americans, can we not find an excellent conservative presidential candidate who is unquestionably eligible?

I agree with you. I like Cruz, but he failed here.
And I am surprised that so many conservatives don’t understand that for our side, if there is something in your life that the enemy can make hay with - even if it’s that your wife’s cousin is a pedophile - don’t run, because all the attention is going to go to that.
Which is why I think it was a big mistake for Sarah Palin to run when her daughter was pregnant and unmarried. Imagine the campaign if that girl had been going to college as a math major - no headlines about her, no David Letterman jokes. All the focus on the issues.

” So far......it doesn’t seem to be working....so far....... “

The Rove/Lott Machine won’t go after Cruz unless or until he
says he is in the race.

No, there is something wrong with us if our “best candidates” have a huge, looming question that overshadows the issues.

Cruz is not an NBC. Must be of two citizen parents on US soil. Learned that in 4th grade in 1957.

Really. What citation "in 4th grade" did they give to support this supposed lesson.

Sen. Ted Cruz is not a natural born citizen, and he is not eligible for the Office of the President.

Unlike BHO, IF Sen. Ted Cruz decides to run for the Office of the POTUS, I am quite sure he will obtain a legal opinion from the highest court in the land (according to the Constitution) on the constitutionality of any such candidacy.

And it is my belief that any such ruling will determine that Sen. Ted Cruz is ruled constitutionally eligible to run for POTUS (since it has come up before):

"It is not necessary that a man should be born in this country, to be 'a natural born citizen' ... James Bayard. Bayard's exposition of the Constitution was read and approved by the Great Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Marshall, by the legendary Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, and by the famous Chancellor James Kent, as well as other legal experts of the early United States.

YES!!!!
***********************
Sen. Ted Cruz was born in Canada with immdiate Canadian citizenship, his father’s Cuban citizenship by jus sanguinnis under the Cuban constitution, and the right to request statutory U.S. citizenship from the U.S. State Department. These are all facts of birth which negate any possibility of being a natural born citizen. A natural born citizen is born with U.S. citizenship and no foreign citizenship at birth or at any point in time after birth.

For Cruz, we would just need residency documents for his mom...
______________________________________________

No we dont...

we just need her birth certificate...

she was born in Delaware of US citizen parents...

she was an American working in Canada...

its Ted’s father who was the foreigner at the time of his birth..

about Obama’s Mom..

that 19+ thingy for the mother to pass on US citizenship would only apply if he was born overseas..

since Obama was born on US soil (supposedly Hawaii) he is a US citzn in his own right...

not an NBC but still an American at bith..

The genie is out of the bottle about NBC requirements..

and hes not going back..

Øbozo and the dhimmis set the “standard” - now if they can still breathe they’re eligible.
