BOSTON – Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown said Wednesday night he won't be a candidate for Massachusetts governor next year.

The former Republican senator and state lawmaker spoke on WBZ-AM's "NightSide With Dan Rea" radio program.

"I have decided, with my wife's blessing, that I will not be running for governor of Massachusetts in 2014," Brown said.

He's either:

- Running for Senate from NH where he has a vacation home
- Cashing out

Sounds like it's the latter. Conservative Boston area talk host, Howie Carr estimated his income to be over $1 million annually. Prior to his Senate gig, his annual income was around $100k.

It's good to be a Senator.

“...former Republican senator...”

Emphasis on “former Republican” part. He was a RINO.

And RINOs should be given only slightly more respect than your local dog feces (er...dog Obamastuff) lying on the sidewalk.

Brown's election was a fluke...a “perfect storm” to coin a phrase. For the next 50 years (at least) it will be 100% Rat for the Governor's office,AG,as well as our (thankfully) shrinking Congressional delegation.Ronald Reagan carried Massachusetts...twice.If he was running today he wouldn't get 30% of the vote here. That's how far we've sunk in recent years.

He hurt himself when he tried to out-feminine Lizzie Warren. Many people were turned off by his chick views and RINO stances. He won a special election again Coakley because it was too cold that day for many Dems to vote and they assumed that she'd win Uncle Teddy's seat. Sadly, the same people who bashed Romney and Brown for being white males running against people representing victimized groups, also voted for Ed Markey against an even weaker RINO in Gabriel Gomez.

I continue to support Brown. I don’t know a great deal about him, but what I do remains on balance positive.

I realize this puts me in a (distinct) minority here, but I will remain supportive of him for the moment.

Go Scott.

According to an article the other day he was pumping hands in Iowa and New hampshire with an eye on the big prize in 2016.

Dang it! Now where are Massachusettsians going to find a wishy-washy, moderate, squishy RINO to run for Governor?

Mr. RomneyCARE has already decided who will be the next
GOP candidate from his home in CA/UT/NH/MI.
He who instituted massive rises in health care
costs (RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE).

There is other work for the RomneyCARE toadie, Scott.

If you run as a ‘liberal light’ against a full blown progressive, the full blown progressive will win every time.

They already have one: Charlie Baker. He ran and lost 4 years ago.

A few days ago, he was sending out feelers about a presidential run.

Poor guy doesn’t realize it, but his short political career is probably over. He couldn’t even retain his Senate seat.

pumping hands in Iowa and New hampshire with an eye on the big prize in 2016...

Maybe on the surface, but his realistic intention is VP. It is realistic in the sense that the droves of Roves of the GOPe, if they see value, would latch on and drive him to VP land, attached to a somewhat higher-in-the-chain RINO at the top.

It would be great new if he ran in 2016. There will be a whole bunch of conservative egomaniacs running in 2016. We need just as many moderate egomaniacs running to split the vote equally among everyone.

Otherwise it will be Romney II.

Nobody cares, Scott. You are a washed-up wishy washy ex-pol with zero ability to lead anybody anywhere.

He did lose against a lying, inexperienced, dolt of a harridan, so the media sees him as a perfect candidate to run against Hillary.

MA should elect another hard-left Democrat. The faster deep blue states like MA fall apart, the faster America will realize that socialism is poison.

I tend to agree with you. Maybe in Texas or Idaho or any other bright red state, Brown is worthless. But in a deep blue state like Taxachusetts or Caliph-phony-a, we need more people like Scott Brown that can capture at least some of the less moon-batty "D" votes in those states.

I am sick and tired of conservative purists winning the primaries, then consistently losing by 20 or more points in the general election in these states. Meanwhile, people (like me) who are fiscally conservative but otherwise libertarian to slightly liberal and might actually have a chance in the general election get tossed to the curb in the primaries. The net effect is that our states and slowly but surely the entire country is turning Socialist as the "liberal" Democrats realize they no longer have to couch their true identities to win elections, since their opposition is doing a great job of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
