Union leader slams Obama’s ‘war on coal’

Union leaders are joining the growing chorus of opposition to the “war on coal” being waged by President Obama through the Environmental Protection Agency.

Raymond Ventrone, who represents more than 2,000 members of the Boilermakers Union in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, voiced his opposition to the EPA’s latest coal regulations in a letter to the editor in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Ventrone said that he and his fellow boilermakers helped install EPA-approved pollution-control equipment at a coal-fired power plant three years ago. But now, those upgrades have been “deemed insufficient by the very same agency by virtue of new regulations created without a vote in Congress or input from the public,” Ventrone said.

According to Ventrone, two coal plants in his area will be closing due to the EPA’s regulations — a loss of 400 jobs in southwestern Pennsylvania. Those two coal plants are among the 207 plants that will close in the next decade due to conversions to natural gas and EPA regulations.

Ventrone also said that the EPA’s goal is not cleaner air but eliminating coal, because even though coal usage has tripled, the presence of pollutants has decreased 56 percent. “We can have clean air and keep coal as a vital part of our economy,” Ventrone said.

Suck it Mr. Ventrone.

You and your idiot union members got this clown elected.

You stupid shirts are responsible for this so you can suffer.

I won’t feel one bit sorry for you or any of the rest of your stupid union thugs.

As a matter of fact I will get a certain satisfaction every time one of your union scumbags’ job becomes another casualty of Obama’s war on America.

Unions complaining that Obama is killing their jobs. Oh cry me a frigin’ river.

Live in Western PA.

Had nose to nose confrontations with these coal union idiots in ‘08.

Oh, they just KNEEEWWW I was a racist.

Now, after TWO MORE COAL FIRED plants have been closed, it finally SINKS IN!

And it isn’t only the coal unions, its the rail unions, and the river barge unions.

You have to stand in line to get a job at burger king here.

AND THEY STILL DON’T THINK IT WAS THE KENYAN THAT PUT THEM THERE!

Yep. They should have acted like real union members and helped cheat obama out of office.

I was just having a conversation with one of the union leaders where I work, and reminded him that elections have consequences.

I have absolutely zero sympathy for the average rank and file member who get the short end of the stick from their so called union leaders who tell them how to vote, and they do. If they are dumb enough to believe the impossible horse pucky spread by their leaders then they deserve whatever they get.

The people in charge at EPA are lunatics. You can never satisfy them. To these freaks everything is pollution. Here in California these freaks have cost the gasoline stations so much in over regulations many are going broke. They could care less.

I think you’re right, for the most part! During the gen. election, a whole big group of coal miners and workers came to one of Mitt Romney’s rallies in their work clothes! They told him they had been let go and they were going to back him and vote for him!
