Sen. Pat Toomey Says Government Shutdown Is Wrong Tool Against Obamacare
CBS Philly ^ | August 21, 2013 | By David Madden

US senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today was suggesting that an idea being floated in some Republican circles — to try and shut down the government to stop Obamacare — is just not the right way to go.

The ultra-conservative US senator insists the Affordable Care Act is a failure and should be defunded, if not repealed outright.

Toomey says he’ll try to take some limited action in the short run to hobble Obamacare, such as pushing for a delay in the “individual mandate.”

But if Congress tries to shut down government operations over the law, he feels, it won’t do a lot of good.

Congressman Pat Meehan (R-Pa.), representing Delaware County, joins in that sentiment. Meehan and Toomey are to convince fellow GOPers promising a showdown on Capitol Hill that their tactics will backfire on them — and their party.

If you buy into the argument of the left, you lose before you start. Republicans are proposing to fund the government, not shut it down.

Pretty sad to see Toomey use the false language of the left.

Congress would pass CRs minus the funding for Obamacare. Obama would refuse to sign them and shut down the government.

When one is fired upon from those surrounding him and claiming to be friendly... then when return fire comes back upon those that have committed treason by firing upon their own troops... that response should be expected. No quarter and no mercy for any republican that tows the progressive line. My best advice to politicians of the republican persuasion... if you are innocent and do not want to be fired upon... do not stand next to a progressive republican that is firing upon his own troops.

I am soooo done voting for Republicans!

And Rush can spare me his bull sh*t about being team players, and how third parties never work...blah...blah...blah.

Tell us Rush...and Mark; what has being loyal Republicans, and team players gotten us? NOTHING, EXCEPT GETTING SCREWED EVERY TIME! Sorry, but I have some self respect left. The only political power I have is to either not vote, vote third party, or do a write in. If the GOPe and RINOs are going to destroy the country and screw we conservatives over yet again...well, they can damn well do it without me!

FUPT...and all the other limp wristed, POS, RINOs!

I am beginning to think we have a bunch of idiots in congress. They are NOT talking about shutting down the government to stop Obamacare, they are saying DON'T FUND OBAMACARE, but fund the rest of the government.

“Pat is starting to sound like Snarlin’ Arlen.”

Starting....he jumped in bed with the rats as soon as he got the name plate on his traitorous office door. Hope we are smarter in PA than to have two hard left democrat senators!

Toomey is no better than Arlen. He is a waste of space and he has no reason to exist as a rep.

To Toomey and any other congress vermin who loudly claims "I really want to stop Obamacare, but we can't do this, and we can't do that...", please retire and move to France.

I'm sick of the mealy mouth excuses. You guys suck. You are all failures and you deserve to be spat on every time you go out in public. All of you.

You got YOUR premium health care and your super special waiver. Did I miss the press briefings where you TURNED IT DOWN? Did I miss where you declared, "Whats good for American workers is good enough for us?" Nope. You worms don't do anything but moan and whine and complain and posture.

You aren't going to do anything to stop Obamacare because you can't. You are impotent cowering fools, unable to accomplish even the smallest task. You can't even be bothered to READ the legislation to vote on.

If anyone in the real working world was as pathetic at their job they would have been unceremoniously fired and forgotten.

If America really does fall into a period of chaos and all you slime ball politicians crawl into your DC safe bunker, it would be ok with me if someone came along and dumped a hundred thousand pounds of concrete right in front of your exit door. You can stay in there until you remember whats more important than padding your bank accounts and accumulating political points.

So Sen. Toomey is “ultra-conservative.” Does the press ever call Pres. Obama an “ultra-liberal?” Another recent report referred to Sen. Cruz as “far-right leaning.” Ever heard of a far-left leaning senator?

"Good Rick Santorum was routinely and viciously attacked on this premiere conservative forum for not endorsing the formerly perfect conservative, Pat Toomey. Now, well it is all different."

Yes, Rick has been unfairly savaged for his reluctant support of Specter. As it turns out, Rick was prudent. Better to go with the devil you know.

Unlike the last time, the "people" will actually enjoy the govt shutdown. This scares the hell out of the RATS and the GOPe since the Tea Party would get the credit for it, galvanizing the Tea Party base.

remember, the GOPe and the RATS are both scared of the Tea Party and an enemy of my enemy is my friend. therefor, the GOPe and the RATS are BOTH saying the shutdown would be a bad thing.

Think about it.
