WWII veteran Delbert Belton survived being wounded in action during the Battle of Okinawa only to be beaten and left for dead by two teens at the Eagles Lodge in Spokane on Wednesday evening.

Belton, 89, died from the injuries he suffered in the beating Thursday morning at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Witnesses say the Belton was in the parking lot of the Eagles Lodge at 6410 N. Lidgerwood, adjacent to the Eagles Ice-A-Rena, around 8 p.m. Wednesday when the two male suspects attacked him.
Belton died from his injuries Thursday at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
"Shorty," as he was known by his friends at the Eagles Lodge, served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII and was shot in the leg during the Battle of Okinawa. He went on to work at Kaiser Aluminum at the company's Trentwood plant for more than 30 years.
He loved playing pool, even though he claimed he was no good at it and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge for the last four months. In addition to playing pool he loved working on cars.
Belton's wife passed away several years ago.
Spokane police are looking for two male suspects in the attack. They said the suspects are African Americans between 16 and 19 years old.
One suspect was described as heavy set and wearing all black clothing. The other was described as being about 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. There was no description of what clothing the second suspect was wearing other than a silk do-rag.
Police investigating the deadly attack on Belton are also working to obtain surveillance footage from the scene.

Washington still has the death penalty—barely— (five executions since 1976)—if convicted I would hope the perpetrators might contribute to the common good by making it seven.

In any case, they WILL meet their maker, either to be judged or rewarded. Best for them, if they have an advocate, rather than going it alone and suffering judgement.

I’m from this area....the first I read about it the online tv news had it as two young men, gave approximate ages, gave descriptions of what they were wearing, even guessed their weight, yet left the “black” part out of it....
“God’s laws” can’t go anywhere, even partially obeyed, without God’s grace. To focus on “God’s laws” is looking in the wrong place for the answer. The answer as always is in blessings of heaven and as far as getting these we’ve got the grudge against God not vice versa. We can’t budge a single curse by resting on our pride which we now are doing big time. We can budge a whole nation full of curses by resting on God’s love once more. It’s simple, the forgiveness with change of attitude is instant, no probationary period needed. Then we got to fight the demons that were invited in, but even then God has them by the tail and they are meant as drills as much as practical work. Who’s bigger, God or Satan? I’ve found out the answer to that question.
You can blame Obama for supporting this behavior and making it legal, but the origin of the BLACK race troubles we currently have comes directly from OPRAH WINFREY and her role in ROOTS.
After watching that miniseries, most Americans who had black skin suddenly changed their whole culture to adopt the story of that movie to their lives.

The saddest part is that the book ROOTS is a complete plagiarism of a book written about the treatment of the Jews under Nazi occupation. The author was never called on it because 1. He was black, 2. It made billions of dollars.
