Detroit has gone enough back to nature that I’m sure there are lots of deer roaming around. Not a bad answer to keeping them in check.

“I was like, what the (expletive) … I don’t know what it is. I just want it gone,” said Seamus McNamara, a 6'5" Detroit resident.

Yes, I believe that I'd have said Seamus sounds like a pansy.

Some Bushmen in the Kalahari use them like hunting dogs..

... zoos have taken to raising them with a canine pal, usually an affable medium sized dog like a retriever.

Very interesting. I didn't know that!

My guess is that soon the "Big Cat" will become hungry. The "Food Chain" will take it's course. What a great experiment, to watch Detroit become the Serengeti Plain.

That's a Cougar.

Close encounters are not pleasant if they're hungry.

Thanks RoosterRedux. These melanistic big cats pop up once in a while; around 20 years ago some video footage was taken of one in suburban Illinois. And this isn’t Michigan’s first time:

the Detroit zoo is not in Detroit, I think its in Royal Oak. Outside of the city limits....it use to be one of the best zoo's in the country....back in the 50’s. Belle Isle had its own small zoo, aquarium, and arboretum. Many rooms, each depict a different envoirment...one room had a small waterfall and was full of orchids, another just desert plants, etc.

Giant greenhouse “bio-domes” with different environments would rock as a zoo. Especially if there was a walk beneath “ocean” aquarium.

Belle Isle is located in the middle of the Detroit River. Use to Be a beautiful place, had its own deer population (no hunting)lots of woods with paths to walk. Picnic grounds all over the place, next to the river. I think it was about 7 miles long and the mounted division had one of its many barns there, also private riding stables. The aquarium was quite large and when my kids were little (in the 60’s) it was still a nice place, but went to hell, no zoo anymore, the beautiful landscape around the arboretum was like something you'd see at an old english manor home...its sad that most of that is gone. The isle is still there but don't know if many people go there anymore.
