Please note that there are no US troops in Syria, and that there won’t be any for the foreseeable. The civil war began in March 2001, when Assad had his troops shoot at, round up, arrest, beat, and torture unarmed protestors.
Since that time there have been a LOT of (non-binding) calls for a no-fly zone, which would accomplish very little on the ground, as it is primarily a ground war, with the Syrian (crap) air force limited to dropping bombs to knock down stubborn buildings filled with stubborn defenders.
The second half of year three will be ugly as hell, and still no US troops will be going, and there will be no no-fly zone.
Whoops, 2011, not 2001, binary error.
Well I need to say first, I am not a veteran.
That said, I do (not) support currently getting involved in Syria.
That just doesn’t strike me as real intelligent.
However I do not have access to any details which McCain / Obama may have.
Just saying, from my perspective, I wouldn’t.
