I see it another way.

I see a possible attack on Israel which then uses it as a reason to pulverize the Hizbollah in Lebanon, something that Israel is better at doing because of the known theater of operation and it is in Israel's “backyard”.
Israel “knows” Lebanon better than the Lebanese.

So there is a possibility that the US MIGHT go after Iran while Israel takes care of the little guys in it's neighborhood, HAMAS and Hizbollah.

Of course we are dealing with a weasel President who does not like Israel so, things may turn out differently.

That would not be a bad outcome. A Syrian attack on Israel opens the door to many intriguing possibilities..unfortunately even the Syrians are probably not dumb enough to to actually follow through with their threat..
