Saudi Arabia has secretly offered Russia a sweeping deal to control the global oil market and safeguard Russia's gas contracts, if the Kremlin backs away from the Assad regime in Syria.

The revelations come amid high tension in the Middle East, with US, British, and French warships poised for missile strikes against Syria, and Iran threatening to retaliate. The strategic jitters pushed Brent crude prices to a five-month high of $US112 a barrel.

I watched PSC over the weekend between football plays and they ran a 6 hour special on the history of Alla and Muslims

That is one heck of a temple in Medina.

Very strange. Evans-Pritchard seems to have lifted entire paragraphs from the lastest report on conspiracy website WhatDoesItMean.com.

OPEC is under the gun as fracking is cutting into their take.

Yep. The Saudis long ago lost their single-lever control over world oil pricing. They could not guarantee making good on such a deal even if Putin were naïve enough to believe them. Which he is not.

I don’t know if any of this is true, but the telegraph is a serious newspaper,

I don't know either, and perhaps The Telegraph is a serious publication, but I remember when AEP articles were posted here on an almost daily basis (not so much recently, AFAICT). It was always doom-and-gloom, right around the corner. Tomorrow! Next week! Soon! Needless to say, none of those prophecies ever came true. I don't give that poofter much credit for anything he utters.
