A 16-year-old boy who fought off a rare apparent wolf attack in northern Minnesota says he won’t be sleeping outside anytime soon.
Noah Graham of Solway was camping on Lake Winnibigoshish with five friends last weekend. He told The Pioneer of Bemidji that he was talking with his girlfriend just before the animal chomped the back of his head early Saturday.
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials think it’s the first documented serious-injury wolf attack on a human in Minnesota.
The paper points out that wolf attacks are rare. There have been two fatal wolf attacks in North America in the past decades, one in north Canada and the other in Alaska. …

Probably not rabid. Solitary wolves aren’t that uncommon. This was probably an older wolf, kicked out of his/her pack, and close to starvation. It would explain an attack on a human — couldn’t hunt very well anymore, and desperate enough to go after an animal they usually avoid like the plague.

More recent news in MN holds that the wolf had some deformities in its jaw and may have had trouble feeding.
Wait for it....some anti hunt type will blame this on a hunter’s errant shot that caused the jaw deformities.
With wolf attacks being documented with some frequency even up to killing and eating people, the pro-wolf people aren’t making too good a case. A bullet wound would be obvious, though. Still, you’re right; they probably will try that tactic and the presstitutes in the metro will cover it and move on.

She said as soon as the wolf saw her it charged. She was able to drop her bow, draw her 44 mag out of its holster, and put 1 round in the wolfs head at a range of a few feet.

Tim Bartlett of Banff : the wolf darted onto the roadway and began chasing him June 8 as he was riding through the Canadian Rockies. The animal got within several feet of him before Bartlett accelerated.
After Bartlett put some distance between himself and the wolf, he stopped to take some photos, capturing it in full pursuit. He says he could hear the wolf’s feet on the road.
