A 16-year-old boy who fought off a rare apparent wolf attack in northern Minnesota says he wont be sleeping outside anytime soon.
Noah Graham of Solway was camping on Lake Winnibigoshish with five friends last weekend. He told The Pioneer of Bemidji that he was talking with his girlfriend just before the animal chomped the back of his head early Saturday.
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials think its the first documented serious-injury wolf attack on a human in Minnesota.
The paper points out that wolf attacks are rare. There have been two fatal wolf attacks in North America in the past decades, one in north Canada and the other in Alaska.

I saw a clip on the news today, with a ranger stating that the wolf had an “unusual jaw”, making it likely that it couldn’t hunt properly. Wolf was probably starving and desperate.
I remember something about that and also the wolf chasing the guy on the motorcycle.
If wolf numbers are allowed to keep increasing we’ll see more and more people in the outdoors attacked or harassed by wolves.
The states need to keep those wolf hunts going.
Took a group of out-of-state elk archery hunters from the Great Lakes region last week. They ended up calling in a pack of 17 wolves by elk cow calling. None of the hunters had a sidearm or wolf tag and it was a very traumatic experience.
Welcome to Idaho, guys. That elk call should have been labeled "Elk And Wolf Call" - sorry about that. You don't have to pay extra for the wolf part.
