this is such a misleading article. without going into the weeds, some of the plans posted rates with the state before negotiating with physicans, hospitals, networks, etc. while they may have cheap rates, they will lose an amazing amount of money and this will adjust itself next year. this is happening across the country. so, while you may get the appearance of cheap rates, they are being subsidized by the healthplans and will equal out over time. it’s all about market share at this point. appreciate you posting this article.

It doesn’t seem to make sense. How are 25% of the people who the article claims don’t have insurance because they can’t afford it going start buying it now, even if it does go down a bit?

ha...you are going to pay for them, if they qualify for subisdy on the cheapest plan. don’t forget, the premiums are being paid for by taxpayers for those who meet certain criteria. classic disgusting redistribution.

They wish. No one will be paying less (except for those who pay nothing—that will continue and grow). Healthcare costs are going to go through the roof and the working class and taxpayers will foot the bill. Amnesty and “free” healthcare, “free” education, “free” ObamaPhones, “free” Internet, etc, will bring down the strongest country on earth. But at least we’ll all be equal. Equally poor. Well, except the ruling class, of course.

New Mexicans WILL pay less. The Old Mexicans, on the other hand, will pay through the nose.

Um, Riiiight...it will go through the roof everywhere else, but not here in illegal land.

Looking forward to KOB coming out with a retraction when rates skyrocket.

Oh Wait...they won’t do that. Might contradict the Talking Points story line.

Back in the day when I was a quasi-governmental technocrat in NM, I had that quote in needlepoint, mounted in a frame and positioned above and behind my head when I was at my desk.

Pissed off many a self-important politician, but there was nothing they could do about me.
