High radiation readings found at Fukushima tanks (NEW LEAK)
Japan Today ^ | 09/01/13 | staff

At the time of last week’s discovered leak the plant operator said the radioactivity of the puddles was around 100 millisieverts per hour.

Jiji news agency said the highest reading of 1,800 millisieverts per hour was found at one of the tanks, adding that exposure to that level for four hours would be fatal to humans. The other readings measured between 70 and 230 millisieverts, the agency added.

A TEPCO official said the operator could not rule out the possibility of new leaks of radioactive water at the four sites, the agency reported, adding that the operator had not noticed a decline in water levels inside the tanks.

Nah like I said I seen more action from a smaller quake even further away.

Yeah the difficulty they had at locating the depth could be caused by the same condition effecting the arrays..

earthquake report has a good collection of pics, data.
they think it was caused by the bohol fault and the vertical movement of the fault. i looked at some of the attached youtube vid, didn’t look too bad but not sure where the vids were taken. some poor doggies in someone’s shop looked pretty confused. one doggy went out and then back in to get his buddy and they both ran out. the shaking didn’t look too violent. the aftershock data is interesting to me also. all the shocks to the north and to the west of the fault, many very shallow, yet some have not felt the after shocks. i have no clue what i’m looking at. i can’t pin down exactly what doesn’t “compute” in my pea brain. i should stick with staring at doppler radar.

as soon as i typed this, i see there were a couple of aftershocks, 5 or so, just south of the fault.

This article from 2012, regarding the “blind fault” that Bohol sits on.

Excellent thank you...

I still look at this as a strike slip and what they were describing in the article would be more a depression than a thrust fault..but who knows!

a 2010 article quoted one of the scientists warning that a mag 7.0 or greater would this lonely fault line, just a matter of when. i guess this area has a unique dynamic of forces and you never know what you’ll get. bohol just sits in the middle of two lines.

the east side saw a tsunami in 1990 or so. (small one) wonder what the damage is on the S.E. of bohol?

Excellent article - thanks! I'm keep planning to see if the fault going through the middle of the island shows up on google earth. ;)

Another 7.1 that was lowered to the upper 6+ range in New Guinea just occured. Haven't seen the big one for SA/Mexico predicted so far.

Sumpin' different about this one. Amazing so many killed and others in the area hardly affected at all...

Personally though it may top 200 killed considering the construction there that’s not bad.

No question this had a very weird roll....some very close to the epicenter said they felt nothing at all....?

Nope, that one didn’t happen yesterday. Another reason I hate Algore’s “climate change” crap. We know so much more about the World than we did 100 years ago, but so much less than man will know 100 years from now. Our time on Earth is but a spit drop in the Ocean. “settled science” my arse. (rant about algore charlatan over)

I had never seen a pic of the “chocolate hills” until now. Strangely beautiful. With all the Volcanic activity in the area, and me being so new (not in interest, but actually researching with the aid of the net) to the Earth’s activity, I have a dumb question. The whole area of the PI (southern) with Bohol in the middle, could that be the remnants of a supervolcano with the island of Bohol and the chocolate mountains as the center of it?

Of course PI is new in the game (last 30 years or so) to mapping the faults and getting the equipment, even considering this 30k long fault that runs NE to SW on the island is in the middle of two long faults and plate intersection/action, there is no other fault mapped and connected with this one.

I’m rambling, but thinking.

I found that very interesting. The videos didn’t look violent in the shaking either. That the debth was from 60+ to finally 20km and it took time to pin it down? What else was percolating down there below this fault?

Of course I did see a comment on one of the Philippine sites that this resembled a nuclear detonation in the fault, but I haven’t seen a live seismo vid of the quake. Within the day of the quake, the USGS international site was “unavailable” when shortly after the quake, hours after the quake, it was still there to click on.

I’ve seen the seismo shots of the nuclear testing from years past. God only knows. I sure as heck don’t.

I was really interested in the vids that showed dogs reacting. One doggy ran out only to run back in and get his doggy buddy.

Nope, think because it was a little cooler summer and a little more rain of just the right amount to keep things growing at an ideal condition.

This late in the year and the grass still giving me fits trying to keep up, can't wait for the first little frost snap.

You're not going to believe this, but I was thinking the same! :-) Perhaps even an ancient meteor strike... Maybe fault lines kind of connect the dots of large impacts?

You could get a pot bellied pig. We only had about 1/3 acre of actual dirt (ignoring the house plot). He did pretty well keeping it mowed until the monsoon season hit.
