ORLANDO There was no question who was the favorite among the crop of possible 2016 Republican White House candidates who wooed conservative activists at a two-day conference here this weekend.
Loud chants of Run, Ted, run! filled a hotel ballroom packed with more than 1,500 people Saturday after Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) finished excoriating President Obamas administration and challenging Republicans to use an upcoming budget vote to try to force through a measure to defund the Affordable Care Act.
How do you win this fight? he asked, and the audience responded in unison with him: Dont blink!
Cruz was the last in a series of prominent Republicans who made their pitches at the Defending the American Dream summit sponsored by the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, a key player in the tea party movement. He followed Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, all of whom addressed the organization Friday.
While the others were warmly received absent some activists who heckled Rubio over his immigration stance the reception for Cruz was nothing short of adoring.
Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips introduced the senator from Texas as a rising leader mark my words a rising leader for this nation and for our cause.
Ted Cruz, I love you! a man shouted as Cruz took the stage to a sustained standing ovation.
The senator beamed, taking in the cheers.
Let me start with a word of warning, he said. By virtue of each of you being here today, tomorrow morning you are going be audited by the IRS. So I appreciate the courage of your convictions!

You really think he won't?
He has to. And in 2016.
By 2020 he will have 8 years in the Senate and that is about the magic time when they all turn as worthless as tits on a boar hog.
So it’s 2016 or nothing for Te Cruz.
Cruz seems to be better than any of the 2012 retreads or the names the GOP-elites keep tossing around.
Senators, however, usually don’t make that good of presidents. >>fingerpointing to the guy who is already in the uhhh out on the golf course.
But, several governors who got elected turned out to be horrible, as well.
[Disclaimer: My state primary is so late in the spring that the nominee is already chosen weeks before, so our primary is relatively meaningless. That is partly why I don’t jump on any of the wannabes’ bandwagons.]
Ted has the courage and charisma to take on both the Dims and DimLites/RINO's!
Thanks for the link http://therightscoop.com/ there are a few available there, Ted Cruz speech is one of them.
Cruz/West 2016
My vote for Ted Cruz last November was the best vote I cast since November 84’ when I voted to reelect Ronald Reagan.
Thanks for the ping!
Man! We need a “like” button SO bad! :)
We love our Sen. Cruz in TX! The Dems can fantasize all they want about turning TX “blue,” but if Sen. Cruz were the nominee for the GOP, every Dem in TX except those in the welfare ghettos and the illegal alien border enclaves would be toast.
Cruz is turning out to be what many thought Rubio was going to be. Almost poetic how the original golden Hispanic has tarnished to be replaced with the real deal.
Ditto here. If the GOPe's run a milquetoast again, i won't vote for him/her. And this is coming from someone who was once a broken-glass Republican on FR signup day ('98) and over the years has privately gotten extremely frustrated at "idiots" who are saying what I'm saying right now. Never again.
Do you hear me Boehner et al? I'm done with being your GOPe whore and I'm not alone. Maybe you should listen and help defund Boehnercare and stop the Boehnamesty movement and defend the 2nd Amendment.
Bob Dole may yet return to the Democratic Party from which he came. Actually, I am not certain he was a Truman Democrat, but he sounds like one. Elizabeth was a NC Democrat before she married Bob.
This makes my day!
You KNOW that the great Sarah will be instrumental in a Cruz administration. Bob
Cruz/West, Cruz/Walker or Walker/Cruz and the list goes on.........
Ted Cruz is our best hope. EVERYONE: God bless Ted Cruz....GO, TED, GO! He also comes from good stock...youtube a speech of his father’s sometime, to understand what I mean.
