At the Last Minute, Obama Alone Made Call to Seek Congressional Approval
WSJ ^ | 9/1/2013 | ADAM ENTOUS and CAROL E. LEE

After a 45-minute walk Friday night, President Barack Obama made a fateful decision that none of his top national security advisers saw coming: To seek congressional authorization before taking military action in Syria.

The stunning about-face after a week of U.S. saber rattling risked not only igniting a protracted congressional fight, which could end with a vote against strikes, but a backlash from allies in the Middle East who had warned the White House that inaction would embolden not only Syrian President Bashar al-Assad but his closest allies, Iran and Hezbollah.

Aides said the decision was made by Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama alone.

Relief in Damascus, as Syrians mock Obama the 'coward' AFP 9/1/2013 8:18:57 PM

He who talks a lot doesn't act," said Souad, a Damascus resident, mocking US President Barack Obama as a "coward" for delaying a decision to attack the Syrian regime.

"Obama is a coward. He didn't strike because he knows that our President Bashar (al-Assad) is all-powerful," said the employee of nationality electricity firm Ferdaws, in the northeast of the capital.

In the wealthy neighbourhood people went about their business without seeming too worried about the thuds from intermittent shelling of rebel positions outside the city centre.

A similarly calm atmosphere prevailed at one of the area's traditional, men-only cafes, where some customers appeared more interested in winning at backgammon than by Obama's speech.

"He was like an actor taking part in a play being shown to the American people," staunch government supporter Hassan Azzam, 73, said of Obama.

5/31/13 MOSCOW — Russia's MiG aircraft maker said Friday it plans to sign a new agreement to ship at least 10 fighter jets to Syria, a move that comes amid international criticism of earlier Russian weapons deals with Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime.

Yeah right. He saw his idea going down the tubes after Britain told him to pound sand. His advisers are trying to manage the damage.

Pray for America to Wake Up

Since Obama is going to pass this off to Congress, I do believe there is a faint whiff of the coming election. Few in Congress wants to do anything which leaves Obama out on a limb since he drew the line in the sand and precious few Americans want to do anything either. Our military under Obama has been decimated, quietly removing funding for all Navy included....HLS has most of small arms ammunition stashed somewhere; we still don’t know who the rebels fighting Assad are, however we do know Hamas, Hezbollah, AL-Qaeda, and other terrorist organizations are all fighting each other....and we want to what? The IRS, NSA, new EOs on gun control....these things are not being addressed as Obama shifts from one foot to another keeping the scandals off the front page.

Just as he did when a ‘sinator’ in Illinois, little barry bastard boy is voting/playing present rather than making a decision, shifting everything off of himself onto someone else. He is the epitome of a shiftless slug. Only to save his sh!teating grin face would he murder a few Syrians using our military as his hitmen. The republicants are showing why we should vote them out in 2014, because they are feckless against a lying fraud, and illicit ruler.

That's the biggest howler of the year. It truly is. Obastard can't decide, on his own, which foot to defile the Resolute Desk with.

Russia sends warships to Syria

By Christopher Szabo
Aug 30, 2013 in World

Moscow - Russia is sending two warships to the eastern Mediterranean, which includes Syria’s coast, including a large anti-submarine ship and a powerful missile cruiser in the “coming days.”

Reuters reports Moscow as saying the move is a routine one, but the fact that the missile cruiser RFS Moskva was in the Atlantic and has been deployed to the Mediterranean makes it appear more likely that the move is aimed at countering similar moves by Western navies.

Reuters quoted a Russian source saying:

“”The well-known situation now in the eastern Mediterranean required us to make some adjustments to the naval force.”

Another Reuters report quoted defence experts saying the two ships in question could give the Assad regime — supported in many ways by Russia — early warning of cruise missile launches, especially if launched from submarines or the newly-arriving ships could jam radars or navigation systems of Western ships.

Prepare yourselves. We will have to get behind the troops once the order is given and hope for the best.

My support will come in the form of protest because backing Al Qeada is utterly treasonous and our soldiers should not be forced into it.

Yeah right. Here is how it really happened.

After a 45 minute smoke break, as Obama walks back inside, he decides to wipe his feet on the doormat. The doormat just happens to be our Constitution. While he is wiping his feet, he accidentally looks down. As he does so, he sees that in the only spot with visible writing, it shows the part of the Constitution, where he has to get approval from Congress.

That is why it was made at the last second.

Nobody knows how they will vote. Kerry seems to think so,
But wishful thinking does not make it true

His proposal includes unlimited war powers, which is more than the
Previous discussion of a few airstrikes.

This is why i believe he is going to congress. Because hes going all
In and knows the strikes are not enough.

Did Barry Abdicate his position...."In his remarks from the White House Rose Garden, the president said “our country will be better off” if Congress renders its own opinion."

....or perhaps is playing politics for the coming election....when did this man ever consider Congress? Obama usually just goes around that body and does what he wants.
