FTA:

He said the plans could involve "much more substance than we were led to believe".

After speaking to Republican senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, who attended the briefing with Mr Obama, Gen. Keane said: "What he won't do is topple the regime. There's a distinction here.

"What he has told the two senators is that he also intends to assist the opposition forces, so he is going to degrade Assad's military capacity and he is going to assist and upgrade the opposition forces with training assistance."

Nothing but an appalling mass of doublespeak. If the goal is to degrade Assad's military capacity while upgrading the AQ/MB forces, pretty much the same gobbledegook the Mahdi used in talking about Libya, the goal is, and can be nothing other than, regime change.

A president who's been bought the way the Mahdi's been bought especially stays bought because the Saudis have copies of all the records he's kept hidden from the American people.

McCain has been a willing accomplice in all of this madness since the beginning. He serves the same master(s) Obama does, and has for a very long time.

But I’ve gone from a full rah-rah supporter of the U.S. in trying to bring democracy and the ‘American way’ to the world to a home-body Isolationist.

So have I, especially when we'll be intervening on behalf of AQ/MB, an intervention that will give them Assasd's chemical weapons arsenal. Then, just guess how many American cities will be hit with those very weapons.

I’m unaware of any Biblical basis for that theory, but the Russians are extremely confident it will become a reality. According to Larry Grathwohl, this was also the Weather Underground’s post-revolution blueprint for governing what was left of the U.S.

Daniel 8 and read the whole chapter as the Bible itself gives the dreams interpretation.

You ask me to explain and the reference was given for the chapter that discusses it.

8Then the male goat magnified himself exceedingly. But as soon as he was mighty, the large horn was broken; and in its place there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.

9Out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Beautiful Land...

He-goats, rams and horns all refer to nations. Look up what a he-goat actually is.

Rev. 7:1, 2 Chronicles 26:16, Jeremiah 49:36, Daniel 5:20, Daniel 7:2

To Ann Archy, I am not saying we should strike...I am saying God’s hand is on the wheel. As confusing as 0bama’s bizarre behavior is...it clearly appears to me he is fulfilling prophecy whether he knows it or not.

Personally, I think he decided to go to congress to get a declaration of war and the American people & media are too stupid to realize it. The geopolitical temptation of Syria for the Muslim Brotherhood and potential caliphate is too great.

Daniel 8 gives a description of the attack.

5As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground. 6It came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and charged at it in great rage. 7I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking the ram and shattering its two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against it; the goat knocked it to the ground and trampled on it, and none could rescue the ram from its power. 8The goat became very great, but at the height of its power the large horn was broken off, and in its place four prominent horns grew up toward the four winds of heaven.

Hi EBH. I looked up Daniel 8 and found this also:

19 He said: "I am going to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath, because the vision concerns the appointed time of the end. 20 The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia. 21 The shaggy goat is the king of Greece, and the large horn between his eyes is the first king. 22 The four horns that replaced the one that was broken off represent four kingdoms that will emerge from his nation but will not have the same power

Daniel 8 also goes on to explain the goat. It says the goat is Greece.

Perhaps you see something that says this passage has another future fulfillment. If so, can you share that? Thanks.

Greece was the seat of ‘democracy’...

The reference is to a country of democracy...

The Ram is Media and Persia... (Iraq, Syria, and Iran)

He-goat is Grecia a symbolic reference to a type of government.

Greece was never, in ancient times, a united state, but consisted of a large number of separate states. These were essentially of two types, (a) city-states, in which a city dominated the adjacent territory whose free population constituted its citizenship, or (b) confederacies, in which neighboring cities or districts combined into political organizations which we may call federal states. http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/greece-graecia/

That ancient Greece is no more...but one can see it in America. And the attack being planned comes from the air and sea...

But Gen. Keane said he understood Mr Obama was planning a more substantial intervention in Syria than had previously been thought, with increased support for the opposition forces, including training from US troops.

"We’re not considering any open-ended commitment, We’re not considering any boots on the ground approach."

The Administration’s Proposed Syria AUMF Is Very Broad [UPDATE on Ground Troops]

http://www.lawfareblog.com/2013/09/the-administrations-proposed-syria-aumf-is-very-broad/

The administration’s proposed (http://www.volokh.com/2013/08/31/thoughts-text-obama-administrations-proposed-authorization-use-military-force-syria/) Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) for Syria provides:

(a) Authorization. — The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in connection with the use of chemical weapons or other weapons of mass destruction in the conflict in Syria in order to –

(1) prevent or deter the use or proliferation (including the transfer to terrorist groups or other state or non-state actors), within, to or from Syria, of any weapons of mass destruction, including chemical or biological weapons or components of or materials used in such weapons; or

(2) protect the United States and its allies and partners against the threat posed by such weapons.

There is much more here than at first meets the eye. The proposed AUMF focuses on Syrian WMD but is otherwise very broad. It authorizes the President to use any element of the U.S. Armed Forces and any method of force.

Thanks, EBH. It seems you are looking at an additional interpretation. I’ll think about it. I appreciate your time.

No, that is wrong.

The support is being given to the rebels, the vast majority of which are not AQ

I’m sorry to say you understand the situation perfectly. Obama wasn’t joking when he wrote/said that he would side with the Muslims. Unfortunately, the uninformed welfare recipients now outnumber hard working voters and they couldn’t care less about foreign affairs and policy.
Its quite vexing, to say the least.

I believe the Strait of Hormuz will be closed within two weeks and the dominoes will fall from there in quick succession.

I don’t like that authorization. I want there to be no wiggle room. We either destroy all chem/bio in Syria or we wait until we can figure out how to do so.

To say we will “prevent or deter proliferation” means anything, so it means nothing.

I agree with Sarah Palin “Let Allah sort ‘em out”

Same here.

My husband ( a conservative, true blue patriot, son of a Marine), never did believe in anything more than a quick strike into Afghanistan, but I really bought into the "nation building" concept. He said you can never bring liberty and republican form of government to a Muslim nation because their God is a tyrant and therefore their religion teaches them to be slaves.

My husband was right, it is true, and the more I learn about how governments arise from the religion and thinking of the individuals that make up a nation, the more I understand how true it is.

That is why I fear so for America, half of our country has rejected the one true God and have put depravity and dependence upon the state in place. We are already a divided country and without a massive 3rd Great Awakening, revival and reformation of the Christian church, we ARE going to split physically and politically. I haven't seen anything in the Bible directly about dividing into 4 pieces, but if you read the Old Testmament you can see over and over that rejection of God was met with patience for a certain period, but after due course and warnings the nations would fall.

We need to bring our troops home, and restore the thinking that brings forth liberty here at home, as Laz said.

P.S. There is a wonderful course on how Christianity is the basis for liberty in American Government, taught online by a dear, wise elderly man. It is quite a time commitment so you have to count the cost, but it is so worthwhile:

Principles of American Government
