Securing Syria´s chemical weapons stockpiles and the facilities that produced them would likely require the U.S. to send more than 75,000 ground troops into the Middle Eastern country, MailOnline learned Wednesday. That estimate comes from a secret memorandum the U.S. Department of Defense prepared for President Obama in early 2012. U.S. Central Command arrived at the figure of 75,000 ground troops as part of a written series of military options for dealing with Bashar al-Assad more than 18 months ago, long before the U.S. confirmed internally that the Syrian dictator was using the weapons against rebel factions within his borders. ´The report exists,

Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Big question: Where’s the money for this coming from ?
Hmm. I wonder if the “rebels” will fire on US soldiers helping in this unwise mission?
That’s a low-ball number, like all initial government estimates for ‘cost’. Never mind there will be people shooting at the troops the whole time. And what gives with the troop count anyway? I thought a shot over the bow or a drone or two, ala Great Leader was what was going to happen.
Part of the reason why they have been trying to rid themselves of all Christian influence in our military.
As long as there’s plan!
We should also keep in mind that the ObamaBots in the military will tell Herr Leader what they think he wants to hear. I have very little confidence in anything the Obama run Pentagon says. These are the same people that put a lying Marine before congress to discredit his subordinate officer in order to protect traitors in the WH and the State Dept.
Knowing absolutely nothing of the intel they are privy to, I'd double that number as a starting point. How many troops will be needed when the region goes up in flames because he put troops there in the first place? This will snowball in a very big and very ugly way.
So Zero has planned on going into Syria before this memo came out.
But how much before?
It would be interesting to know what the troop level the Soviet military estimated would be required to “secure” Afghanistan in 1980. And how long they thought it would take.
And did they tell the civilian leaders what they really thought?
Remember when Clinton said US troops would be in Bosnia until Christmas...?
And US troops are STILL there.
He didn’t say which Christmas.
.... If I am not mistaken, troops were being moved into position early this year and not to mention high level meetings that took place with Jordanian authorities for a possible incursion into Syria. At least that is what boots on the ground over there told me. Maybe they are just mistaken. However ..... This was also confirmed by news reports a few weeks later.
When Syria was the major supplier of arms and fighters for the Iraqi insurgency, there was some planning for a possible intervention into Syria (2005 or 2006). It might have been related to that.
This is ridiculous. Let’s start a right wing “anti war” movement and go recruit all the college kids to “fight the man”. Turnabout is fair play!
Sounds like a low-ball figure.
Suppose a few nukes starting exploding. Every country on Earth would call for the UN to come in and stop the madness. There’s your one world government. Compliments of the Bushes, Clinton, obama and “leaders” of congress since 1988.
75,000 is a low-ball figure. Syria has about 200,000 troops.
“Some from taxes the rest we’re borrowing from new world order.
We’re already into new world order for $17 trillion.”
Don’t forget ‘qualitative easing’.....
In complete and utter defiance of the “Godwin Rule”: We are becoming the Weimar Republic.
We do not have that many available troops with them spread in 27 countries already, we do have desk jocky’s untrained in combat. Cannon fodder. Few are joining because of 0 and McLUNITIC gutting their benefits.
The push to rid Christians from the military began in the late 80s to early 90s. It’s just matured to the point of now being overt.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 10-7 this afternoon to approve a resolution authorizing President Obama to use military force against Syria in response to President Bashar Assad's suspected chemical-weapons attack on civilians last month.
But the rushed vote reportedly broke Senate rules for moving legislation through the committee process. According to The Daily Beast, a senior GOP Senate aide called it "a rush to war behind closed doors," adding:
"We were told there was a need to have a thoughtful and public debate about how this nation goes to war, but this seems to be about simply getting a resolution done to cover the President."
Today's actions allow for a vote by the full Senate as soon as Wednesday and enable the Democrat-controlled "upper chamber" to pass a war resolution before the House can write and pass one of its own.
Moments after the vote, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East, told FOX News that when Representatives return to Capitol Hill next week, Obama's plan will likely by-pass committee and move directly to the chamber floor for a vote.
+ + Should Congress Back Obama On Syria?
Congress' month-long summer recess ends in just five days -- with a full Syria vote expected almost immediately. That gives grassroots Americans less than a week to make their voices heard!
From the Rose Garden on Saturday, President Obama said, "While I believe I have the authority to carry out this military action without specific congressional authorization ... Im asking Congress to send a message to the world that we are ready to move forward together as one nation."
But our "Radical-in-Chief" has it wrong ... again. According to Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the U.S. Constitution, "Congress shall have the power ... to declare war."
That's why grassroots Americans must act now! It's liberty-loving Americans who need to send a message to Congress about backing Obama's plan. Tell your Senators and Representative what you think about authorizing the President to launch a military strike against Syria.
+ + Make Your Voice Heard On Capitol Hill!
Yesterday, Grassfire launched a Syria quick poll to empower our team members and their fellow patriots to make their voices heard. In just 24 hours, more than 28,000 of you have responded -- with 97 percent voting "No!" on granting Obama authority to conduct military operations in Syria.
Grassfire will deliver the quick-poll results to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) next week, prior to any vote. You can use the time remaining to expand the impact of your "vote" by faxing your two Tennessee Senators, Representative and other key lawmakers.
Really? I did not know that. It started under President Reagan? That is curious. Wonder why.
