Kerry: Bush officials 'so discredited' they're not relevant to Syria debate By Julian Pecquet - 09/05/13 08:41 PM ET
Bush administration officials are so discredited by the war in Iraq that their criticism of President Obama on Syria is irrelevant, Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday.
Kerry's comments on MSNBC's All in with Chris Hayes come after former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on Wednesday called Obama the nation's so-called commander in chief. And Bush's hawkish ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, said Tuesday he'd vote no to avoid taking sides.
It just doesn't make a difference to me, because they're so discredited by their own judgments that it's hard to see that they have a judgment today that is relevant to this, Kerry said. I'll listen to people whose judgment I clearly trust and respect.
Kerry went on to vow that the limited action considered for Syria won't turn into another Iraq or Afghanistan, the two wars that began under Bush.
We are not presenting to the American people the same shoddy intelligence that was presented to the American people back in Iraq, he said. We will not put American boots on the ground. We will not take over a civil war in which the United States clearly has no interest being directly involved.
Bush has decided to remain silent.
The president's got a tough choice to make, he told Fox News last week, "and if he decides to use our military, he'll have the greatest military ever backing him up.
Kerry's appearance on the liberal show aimed to shore up support for the authorization to use force in Syria, which faces an uphill battle in the House.
While Republicans make up 80 of the 110 House members leaning towards voting no, according to The Hill's latest whip count, 30 are Democrats. Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) is even rallying support against the measure: His online petition had garnered more than 50,000 signatures as of Thursday evening.
Buffoons and clowns are in charge now.
This from someone who actively supported America’s Communist enemies during the 1970s.
Bite me you tax evading catspoop boy
And Kerry is not discredited? What an upside down world we live in.
So sayeth the Candidate who campaigned on a ‘global test’ before taking military action.
Did he find a group of our military and call them baby killers while he was at it? We live in bizzaro world.
ouch...Kerry is nothing more than a pin prick
“[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S.Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.” Letter to President Clinton, signed by:—Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry,
“I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.” —Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation.. And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continueddeceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real...”
—Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
Kerry you were Swift boated, remember? You are the one discredited you oaf
This is the guy who selected John Edwards to be his running mate.
And yet the obama administration desperately wants republicans to support his Syrian misadventure...
But insults them at the same time.
—This is beyond comedy............
You can’t make this stuff up...
This administration is so egocentric and narcissistic
that it unconsciously self mocks
John and Barry are sooooooooooooo credible
yes. so much better to let our Viet Nam war hero “diplomat” lead us into war on behalf of O’s AlQuaida friends
SHUT UP you traitor!
Good lord, how did this mane not get shot decades ago?
Uh, look, Johnny, taking plastic surgery advice from Michael Jackson probably wasn't your finest moment. Just sayin'.
that might actually work... Lord knows nothing else he proposes does
"The former leader of the Islamic Society of Boston is Abdurahman Alamoudi,
who recently pled guilty to smuggling hundreds of thousands of dollars
from Libyas Jihad fund, to plot the assassination of Saudi Prince Abdullah.
Another influential figure in the Islamic Society of Boston is the infamous
Sheikh Yusef al-Qaradawi, virulently anti-American spiritual leader
of the Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Qaradawis name was listed on the
Arabic language brochure for the ISBs new mosque
Yet, the Boston Redevelopment Authority sold them the land
for their proposed new mosquea vast complex estimated
to cost $22 million, much of which is coming from Saudi Arabia
at far less than fair market value, and is now being sued
by concerned citizens of the area."
stay out of the balloon house Kerry...
John F’n Kerry is a traitor to the United States who should have been tried, convicted, sentenced, and hanged decades ago. So whatever he says now should have no more value than the dried poop left behind by the maggots who fed on his rotting corpse.
96 Senators voted to accept this guy, Many of the people who he now calls discredited.
I hope they all still love this traitorous a-hole they put in high office.
“beyond comedy”...and utterly SURRREAL...
in fact it may actually qualify as being beyond SURREAL given Kerry’s Huge foundation of undeniable GRAVITAS.
Mr. Discredited Himself has opened himself up for yet another MAD Magazine Cover with this batch o’ hooey!
the unknown factor in the bottom photograph..most curious.
The key word in the first sentence is "American" boots. We have boots on the ground, they just happen to be Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood.
The key word in the second sentence is "directly". We're working with the Turkish Army to run this op. So, no, not directly. Though, if you're an ambassador in Benghazi, it probably felt pretty "direct".
No ...he’s just a prick, period.
"We are not presenting to the American people the same shoddy intelligence that was presented to the American people back in Iraq," he said. "We will not put American boots on the ground. We will not take over a civil war in which the United States clearly has no interest being directly involved."What's his FR nick?
This is ridiculous. I want to see Kerry’s DD-214 right now.
Leftists sure are nasty little cow chips, aren’t they.
Way to go Kerry, toss out a gratuitous insult. Any Republican who votes for this crap is a stupid stooge of the Democrats. How many kicks in the ass can you take?
Half of the loudest voices FOR attacking Syria ARE former Bushies!!
Obama really wants somebody else to blame for NOT acting.
That pic is photoshopped. There are plenty of stupid pics of Kerry without posting this one.
We are not presenting to the American people the same shoddy intelligence that was presented to the American people back in Iraq,
Technically, that is not a lie by Kerry.
The Obama Administration is presenting absolutely no evidence or intelligence what so ever to justify their attack on Syria.
“We will not put American boots on the ground.”
Just like there was no red line.
why won’t any Republican ask lurch why they should believe this administration on anything considering how they lied about Libya and covered up Fast & Furious...
None of this matters to the boots (on the ground) licking press.
But but Saddam gassed his own people...do the Iraqi victims of Saddam matter less cause a Republican regime intervened???
In true Orwellian fashion, any memory of the Democrat’s very substantial support for the war was thrown down the memory hole.
wait, didn’t he vote for the authorization to use force? Or was it just his predecessor. Does he not trust her?
