The Syrian government agrees to Russia’s proposal to hand its chemical arsenal over to international control in a bid to avert a possible strike by the US-led coalition, Interfax reported citing the Syrian Foreign Minister.
“Yesterday [Monday] we held a round of very fruitful negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and he put forward an initiative regarding chemical weapons. Already in the evening we accepted Russia’s initiative,” Walid Muallem said.
He stressed that the agreement is designed to “pull the rug from under the feet of American aggression.”

France to propose U.N. resolution on Syria chemical weapons
(Reuters) - France is to put forward a U.N. Security Council draft resolution for Syria to give up its chemical weapons, quickly turning a Russian idea into a full-blown diplomatic proposal that could avert Western military strikes.
The French draft would threaten “extremely serious” consequences if Syria violates the conditions for giving up its chemical weapons, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Tuesday.

I just looked at Sky news. This could end up another mess for Obama. The FSA, ehem, is ticked off and vowing to help “beef up” the jihadi’s in a push to Damascus. They were counting on this military strike.
Now we can see the possible upcoming danger. And 9/11 is tomorrow.

Russia will soon present a precise plan for a resolution to the chemical weapon problem.
“We are now working on this – working out efficient precise plan, for that we are in talks with Syrian side. We expect to present the plan, including to the US, in the nearest future. We are ready to elaborate it with the UN secretary- general, UNSC members and with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons,” Sergey Lavrov said.
However, Lavrov stressed, this work does not exclude the necessity of investigation of all cases in which chemical weapons were used.
“UN experts should return to Syria and complete their mandate in full. The truth must be found, those responsible should be held accountable,” he continued.

Let me guess...”international control” means primarily Russia and China.
Actually it’s a win/win all around and retains status quo. Sure Syria gives up some weapons but gets to hide as many as they want. Obama saves face. Russia likes it. No useless bombing. I’m fine with it. However it fixes nothing. And it is not our problem to fix.
