Reminds me of the Bee Gees song of the 60s; “I started a joke, and got the whole world laughing, but what I didn’t see, was the joke was on me!”

Kerry’s spokesperson walking back Kerry’s “rhetorical”, “off-the-cuff” answer about what it would take to avoid war certainly exposes the lie of any planning on Zero or Kerry’s part. Neither have any right whatsoever to take credit for anything except for being world-class bumblers.

God is certainly in control!

Obama simply isn’t ready for prime time. Putin has sprung a trap that this president simply can’t easily extricate himself from. He is just as awful at foreign as he is at domestic policy.

World leaders are riding Obama like a rented Donkey..
Unless he is serving them like a beast of burden!...

Maybe little of both..
With liberals it’s like a trip to Oz... Life is a cartoon..

“The only reason why we are seeing this proposal,” said White House spokesman Jay Carney Mr. Claire Shipman, “is because of the U.S. threat of military action.”

In Mr. Obama’s world, rhetoric DOES trump reality...and won him the presidency.

Look at how many sheeple just accepted his empty, unfulfilled five years later promises despite the right pointing out not only how his plans will NOT work, but pointing out that no one has asked him HOW he’d do those things...because they just wanted to believe so badly. It was the wizard of Oz, and no one who voted for him wanted anything to raise the curtain.

So yes, rhetoric, in Obama’s world, DOES trump reality. When the economy continues to tank, he’ll tell you about “green shoots”. When those shoots turn out to be weeds, he’ll tell you there is job growth. When those jobs don’t show up, or are part time, or have no benefits, he’ll blame GW Bush, Republicans in general, or find a distraction like he has now. The problem is that I think he really actually believes that he can do these things just by wishing it so. After all, look at his family....their lifestyle sure as hell hasn’t been affected.

And perception is reality.

He thinks that rhetoric trumps reality — but the fact is, it doesn't. Putin does not suffer from that illusion.

Well and truly said, dearest sister in Christ!

Obama's fantasy world just suffered a rude awakening for many of his followers.

Praise God it didn't come at the expense of additional American lives ---- so far.

So we have Putin to thank for saving the lives of American soldiers?

We truly live in a bizarro world.

The best part for Asad is he gets to harvest his enemies non-stop for months now. Putin just handed him his country back.

bttt for later reading—but you are absolutely right. As far I can tell, he is doing a terrible job. Out of his league—though I hope I’m misreading this.

Not only that, we are now in a position to help protect Assad in order to ensure the safe transfer of these chemical weapons to international inspectors.

In Mr. Obama’s world, rhetoric DOES trump reality...and won him the presidency.

I take your point, VideoPaul. Indeed, what you say is true: Obama really does believe that rhetoric can "transform" Reality.

Maybe in the short run it can. But it seems to me you cannot go against the grain of natural law and human history for very long, and NOT end up in a condition of serious error, of disorder, of suffering and strife — in individual human beings, families, communities, societies, and even in the natural world.

But Obama seems to believe there is no inherent Truth in the world. Thus the world is completely malleable to his ideas and his will. (All he needs is POWER to implement same. Take heed!)

Which seems pretty Darwinian to me: In effect, Neo-Darwinist evolutionary theory posits Reality as an unguided, essentially random flux. There is no better or worse; there is no good or bad; everything that is, is effectively the outcome of directionless, purposeless evolutionary change.

Then you get a talented "community organizer" into the picture, who evidently believes that Reality can be changed by the way in which we think of it, and how we describe it in language. He just needs to speak "the magic words" to the "masses" that will bring the New Utopia into existence.

There's nothing in Darwinism that says he can't do this. (But then, Darwinist evolution theory cannot account for Mind, let alone speech (rhetoric); it can't even account for Life — which is the necessary precursor of Mind, or any other kind of biological consciousness).

To me, dear FRiend, if anything, for Obama to think in this fashion only testifies that he is in the grip of some kind of sociopathic, psychopathic, or pneumopathic disorder. IOW: He is a total mental case of one sort or the other.

The World does not change because we prefer to imagine it "in a revolutionary manner." If mankind annihilated itself tomorrow, in all probability the World would still be "here," doing its natural thing (so to speak). Only it would be doing so without Man.

Keep in mind, Obama is not only a "conjurer" of Second Realities, a Black Magician as it were.

More to the point for American public purposes: Obama prefers lying to telling the truth.

Truth is hard, difficult; lying is easy. (At least so long as you have a complaisant news media who cheer you on when you're making a total ass of yourself, who never point out even the most egregious lies you tell.

Which is why Vlad Putin is having our Dear Leader for lunch these days. Vlad is no saint; but Vlad knows that a man who lies systematically is, at bottom, a very weak man. To be exploited. By Vlad.

I've been studying; here's the backgrounder I recently put up here at FR: see here for details

I'll close for now, with this observation, from Eric Voegelin, IMO the greatest pholospher of the 20th century:

Indeed one cannot realize a Second Reality, but the spiritual closure within it is a real phenomenon and has an actual effect on reality. In this regard the structure of the pneumopathological case doesn't differ from that of the psychopathological: the delusions of the paranoid person also correspond to no reality, but the delusions are real and the actions of the paranoid enter into reality.

Just some thoughts. Thank you so much for your reply, VideoPaul!

Does it bother you that chemical reactions are amoral?

Little steven barnard dunham's audience is infected with Magic Thinking, hence his rhetoric is taken as reality ... and Little Barry now believes his own fantasies:

In clinical psychology, magical thinking can cause a patient to experience fear of performing certain acts or having certain thoughts because of an assumed correlation between doing so and threatening calamities. Magical thinking may lead people to believe that their thoughts by themselves can bring about effects in the world or that thinking something corresponds with doing it.[1] It is a type of causal reasoning or causal fallacy that looks for meaningful relationships of grouped phenomena between acts and events.

"Quasi-magical thinking" describes "cases in which people act as if they erroneously believe that their action influences the outcome, even though they do not really hold that belief".

"Does it bother you that chemical reactions are amoral?"

I realize that question wasn't aimed at me, but, to this physical chemist, chemical reactions are NOT"amoral".

Chemical reactions are direct and faithful expressions of the rules and laws that God Almighty "designed and built into" His Creation. They embody the ultimate, inviolable morality: the will of God.

You seem to be the one who is "bothered"...

The chemicals don’t have a choice. How can there be morality without choice?

I managed to be adult enough that I didn't have to resort to mindless name calling. That's not something I'd aspire to get back to.
