Why Futurama Was The Greatest Show About The Future Ever Aired:
R.I.P. Futurama, we'll miss ya
By Colin Lecher
--snip--
While most TV science fiction is an exaggerated metaphor of the creators' ideas--or, at its worst, a sterile attempt at imagining the future--Futurama understood that the future would always subvert our expectations. So the show did the only reasonable thing: revel in all the ways the future could be absurd, wild, poignant, hilarious, bizarre, terrible, wonderful, and so, so close to reality without being a thinly veiled version of the present.
--snip--
Weird! Funny! And like the best satire, it gets at a truth: our predictions of the future are, more often than not, terrible. You can check out the Popular Science archives for proof. We're not embarrassed! Futurama understood that it's unreasonable to even try to make predictions--that messy uncertainty is the future's only real certainty, so why not own it?
Which ties in perfectly with the herky-jerky trajectory of the show. It aired for a while, got canceled, came back, and now it's gone again--except it may come back on another network, possibly, Matt Groening has said. Or maybe it won't! Who knows.

My kids liked it. Now I don’t have to explain sex to them. Or anything else.
OH Bender I am going miss you on Futurama
Hey you are valuable Freeper
I going miss Richard Nixon head LOL!
If you have the DVDs, make sure that you listen to the Audio commentaries. They are as funny as the show.
Leela....L E E L A Leela!
The best? Maybe not but in my top ten.
I cried at the end. I own all the shows, watch them over and over again, and have to say, there are three episodes that have stayed with me all these years, and still haunt me. The one with Fry’s dog. Can’t see it again, cried for days after. the one where Bender finds out who his “father” is when he goes to Mexico, and the finale, with Fry and Leela as. One of the greatest TV love stories ever.
I hope the series isn’t dead. It will live on in my heart in re runs true, but maybe it can live on. I can hope.
I want to be added to the science fiction list, please.
Nice piece of trivia
The finale aired on the guy who voices Benders 45th birthday.
should we wish you happy belated birthday Mr. Bender?
Oh my yes, one of my favorite shows of all time.
“if anyone needs me i’ll be in the angry dome”
The first 3 seasons were to funny, the 4th ify and the rest were hit or miss.
ALL “Family Guy” is meanness and perversion. And worst of all, it always goes after easy targets. It shows an innate cowardice in its satire. It’s like pushing an old lady down the staircase, over and over. Cheap. Cowardly. That’s why I have zero respect for the show.
Yes, and send lots and lots of money... and beer!
Oh ok. I’ll throw in a few good Cigars too. Nothing but the best for our favorite robot
Gadzooks! I may be... in love!
Whoa! Let me... get this straight--
Lot and lots of money... and beer--
And... cigars. Cigars, right?
Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... mmmmmmmmmmmm!
No cowbells? NO... COWBELLS?
Hey Bender since your show is over
Had any plans any word on that rumor I hear you may join spin off Breaking bad with Saul Goodman Walt lawyer
But now, I have much more time to drink beer... and aged brandy--
Smoke fine Cuban... cigars--
AND chase all you gorgeous... sexy gals!
OH I see you going sit back and relax
Look over scripts right
Not only that, they know what Uranus smells like.
In one of the last few episodes (about Fry):
“My little meat bag is growing up”
Gadzooks. It seems only yesterday when Fry... was dead--
