Pace of Economic Growth Quickens in Wisconsin
Lasee Notes ^ | 9-12-13 | Senator Frank Lasee

Posted on 09/13/2013 10:37:49 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Only two other states had better economic growth than Wisconsin in July, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Each month the bank takes into account key economic indicators as well as unemployment and the average number of hours worked before making a judgment on economic growth.

For the second month in a row, the numbers were so good they were way above the national average. Despite what liberals want you to think, Wisconsin's economy is getting better and the numbers prove it. More people are investing money in their businesses and more Wisconsinites are getting back to work. Sounds like a good deal to me.

It's not a coincidence that Wisconsin's economy is showing life. Common sense, conservative policies like balanced budgets, lower taxes and streamlined regulations passed by Republicans in the legislature are sending the right signals to job creators - now is the time to move forward in Wisconsin.

In the last two year state budget, we made a $1 billion down payment on the liberal tax increases of the past, kept spending within our means, and made it easier to do business in Wisconsin. Smart budgets and responsible policies give business owners confidence that government costs won’t be going up. Instead of investing in the government through higher taxes (which never works), business owners are using their resources in their own businesses creating more jobs for Wisconsinites and growing their businesses.

The news gets better! CNBC television network ranked Wisconsin as the 5th best state for new manufacturing jobs. Another summer survey from WMC, the state’s chamber of commerce, shows that 94 percent of Wisconsin’s job creators think the state is on the right track. When the job market is good, other markets follow, like housing, where construction permits are up almost 10% from a year ago.

The evidence showing Wisconsin’s economy is back on the right track continues to pile up. Liberals are always angry about not getting their way and try to poke holes in the good news. Unlike liberals, the numbers don’t lie. The data presents a compelling case that, as a state, we are coming back stronger than we have ever been.

Businesses, both large and small, create jobs. The government has to take money from people to create jobs, businesses don’t. So where does the government have a stake in job creation? It’s simple. If the government is passing laws that make doing business easier and more predictable, the economy does better and more jobs are created. This is happening in Wisconsin and the report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia show this good news. If government (like the government under Governor Doyle - D) passes laws that make it hard to do business (like more taxes and regulation), the economy goes in the wrong direction and people lose their job. What does more than $5 billion in tax increases, record deficits and over-regulation buy you? In Wisconsin, it bought over 150,000 Wisconsinites a ticket to the unemployment line.

Economic growth is a cycle. As more Wisconsinites go back to work, they will go on vacation again, finally start that home remodeling project, and eventually buy more cars--all signs of confidence that fuel even more economic activity.

Taxes are going down, regulations are smarter and the reform continues. Four years ago, this sign would have said open your wallet, Democrats are running the show. Now it says we’re open for business.

I am from PA but donated to Walker for his fight against recall and he has made me proud and happy that I did.

As a Steeler fan, I hate the Packers but love what is going on in WI, and wish all cheeseheads nothing but the best {it doesn't look like the Steelers will be a factor in football this year}.

This story of WI is a fantastic testimonial to all conservatives with the guts to take a firm stand and take on the lefties.

The story of WI should be screamed from all corners of the country.

They’ll have to change the law that prohibits removal of oil from Wisconsin. I don’t know about shale, but I have no doubt that there are oil deposits under Lake Michigan. After all, Michigan is slant drilling for oil there right now, but Wisconsin is prohibited.

This is just one of the many reasons that I fervently hope that nobody drafts Walker for President. We need him for at least another term to finish cleaning up the mess in Madison.
