Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper says last week’s victory by gun-rights voters in the state’s recall elections shouldn’t be seen as a litmus test for the rest of the nation — or even the rest of the state.
The Democratic governor, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, said the recalls of two state lawmakers, both Democrats, who supported gun-control legislation he signed earlier this year were more about local politics.
“I’m not sure it has a national message or even a statewide message,” he said. “These are very specific districts.”
Asked if the recall indicated a broader unease with the Democratic Party’s social agenda, including the support for gay marriage, the governor said that’s “certainly possible. But I haven’t felt that.”
The governor seemed to take a swipe at New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who helped fund the anti-recall effort — something that might have backfired in Colorado, Mr. Hickenlooper said.
“There is a certain resentment. Outside money coming in is generally not welcome [in Colorado],” the governor said.

2. Insulting the good voters of the Great State of Colorado, (not too smart, as they are now energized at the grassroots level; and they have shown little countenance for governmental aristocracy.)

Gone are the days when Democrats would rise above party idealism and take a stand for what is right with America.
Am thinking of the likes of Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.
Reagan was so liked as he exuded patriotism and not only talked about it, but acted it.
This quality, epitomized by George Washington who refused to be king and instead embraced the foundation of a nation ruled by citizens.
Speaking strictly as a Coloradan: there’s an additional irony in all this: Hickenlooper’s name was mentioned as a presidential candidate. That’s behind him now. He had his chance and blew it sky-high.

In the Wannabee Socialist Republic of Kalifornia, the following anti-gun bills are going to the Governor for his consideration:
Assembly Bill 48 (Skinner) bans the sale of parts and repair kits capable of creating or converting a magazine to a capacity to hold greater than ten rounds.
Assembly Bill 169 (Dickinson) limits the sale and transfer of all lawfully acquired firearms that were never, or are no longer, on the California roster of approved handguns to two a year and redefines the technical provisions of single short pistols.
Assembly Bill 180 (Bonta) repeals state firearms preemption by allowing the City of Oakland to enact ordinances that are more restrictive than state laws concerning the registration or licensing of firearms.
Assembly Bill 231 (Ting) expands the law relating to the storage of firearms.
Assembly Bill 711 (Rendon) makes California the first state in the nation to prohibit the use of all lead ammunition for hunting.
Senate Bill 299 (DeSaulnier) makes it a crime if a victim of firearm theft does not report the theft within seven days.
Senate Bill 374 (Steinberg) bans the future sale or transfer of and classify ALL semi-automatic rifles with a detachable magazine or holding more than ten rounds of ammunition as “assault weapons” and the continued legal possession of these newly classified semi-automatics as “assault weapons” would require that you REGISTER and pay a FEE (TAX) on ALL of them.
Senate Bill 475 (Leno) effectively bans gun shows at the Cow Palace by requiring approval of the board of supervisors of the Counties of San Mateo and San Francisco prior to any gun shows.
Senate Bill 567 (Jackson) redefines shotguns to include any firearm that may be fired through a rifled bore or a smooth bore, regardless of whether it is designed to be fired from the shoulder. SB 567 also bans the sale of shotguns encompassed by the revised definitions that have a revolving cylinder, and requires registration of these currently owned shotguns.
Senate Bill 683 (Block) expands California’s handgun safety certificate requirement to apply to all firearms, and prohibits anyone from purchasing or transferring any firearm without a firearm safety certificate.
Senate Bill 755 (Wolk) expands the list of persons prohibited from owning a firearm, including persons who have operated cars and boats while they are impaired commonly referred to as DUI.
I don’t think our Statehouse reps are listening or learning from Colorado’s example of what can happen to reps who ignore the will of their constituents.

I have been fortunate to have met my Senator Ted Cruz during his primary runoff due to a friend’s invite over his house.
One could tell Ted had plenty of personality, talked all the right things this conservative wanted to hear including a clear vision on what was wrong with Washington and how to fix it, and thanked profusely those supporting him.
When I returned home, the one thing that struck me is that I did not witness the humility I would have liked to have seen. I think the very top leaders are strong and principled, but also expose themselves in a humble way. That is why I admire George Washington and consider him the greatest of Americans.
It might just be the politician in him that keeps away humility, but I don’t think it would be slam dunk that even Ted would not succumb to the call of power.
He also denies the existence of dentists.
