Pat Buchanan: People worldwide ‘are sick of hearing’ talk of American exceptionalism
dailycaller.com ^ | September 15, 2013

Posted on 09/15/2013 8:24:57 PM PDT by Tailgunner Joe

Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan offered a counterintuitive reaction to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s op-ed in The New York Times last week, saying that other countries are “sick of hearing Americans” calling themselves exceptional.

Buchanan, author of “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” argued that Putin echoed what Obama and many Americans had said with regards to the United States as the world’s exceptional superpower.

“From the hysterical reaction in this city [Washington, D.C.] to Putin’s op-ed piece, he put this one right down the smokestack,” Buchanan said on ’s broadcast of “The McLaughlin Group. “What he did is he keyed off what Obama said on exceptionalism and he countered it with an argument which people all over the world believe. They are sick of hearing Americans talk about ‘we are the indispensable nation,’ as Madeline Albright said. ‘We see further than ours, that’s why we can use force.’ ‘We are the sheriff of the world, we are first, we are leaders.’ He’s not only appealing to the people of the world, he is appealing to that half of the United States to whom Barack Obama himself was appealing. So, I think he hit home.”

Will America Survive to 2025?

If we can get rid of the Demo-CRAPS.

Yeah, Pat. That must be why they stow away in the wheel wells of airliners, turn their homes into rafts, trek across parched deserts or otherwise risk their lives to get here.

About the only place people don't hear about American Exceptionalism is in America.

Buchanan is a douche-bag.

I'm sick of hearing that obama is president, it doesn't mean it isn't true.

I don't care what the rest of the world is sick of hearing.

America and Americans have been exceptional from the revolution until fairly recently.

Reagan believed we were exceptional.

Once we get a person (notice, I didn't say man) of Reagan's caliber back in charge, we will be exceptional again.

I guessed I missed it, Pat. All I've heard over the past five or so years is how ‘I didn't build that’, and ‘we should give up a pinch of sovereignty to the UN’, and how dare we ‘go it alone’ when it comes to defending American interests, and how racist we are...shall I continue, Pat?

The American kneepad media lies, spins, and protects all those in Gov’t who want nothing more than to play a part in America's demise.

Personally, I think the world is weary of depending on a paper tiger to lead the free world.

Look up Rush’s monologue on Exceptionalism.

America was the ‘exception’ as it was the only nation founded on liberty and freedom. Those characteristics made it flourish as the citizens were free.

That’s a good start. Regardless of what pat said and or why, this group of cab ers could NOT rebuild the Twin Towers, Get to the moon, nor figure out that they need to stop paying ridiculous prices for education, but their leader is strapping them with hundreds of thou per in tax debt

Their mothers are too busy to take care of these rising problems.

The world is sick of us. What are we going to do about it?

Curse? Or rise to the challenge?

Wise up. It’s been fifty years since we went to the moon, pissing off every country.

So when Hildabeast is in the White House for 8 years and Jeb Bush goes to the White House for 8 years after her, will you still proclaim America is “exceptional?”

Upon further reflection, perhaps Pat is right.

They're sick of HEARING about American Exceptionalism. They want to SEE some.

Syria is bounded on the North by Turkey, on the East by Iraq, to the south, Jordan, and to the west, by Israel, Lebanon, and the Med.

Do I get a nickle?

I was at one of the many dinner parties in the UK with socialist academics. They were always griping about the US and making me the butt of their snarky jokes (harr, frikkin’ harr). I turned to them and said, “Well, if you feel so strongly about your hatred for the US, why don’t you pressure your government to break off all ties with us a allies.” The table was silent and they looked like deer in the headlights. I wish I’d had a recording. It was epic.
