Marion Barry, the city’s most well-known and polarizing politician, was censured Tuesday by his colleagues on the DC City Council for taking thousands of dollars in cash payments from contractors with business before the city.
A divided council stripped Barry of his committee chairmanship, in what some colleagues said was another mark on the city’s dismal ethics record. In the last two years, three council members have pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges.
For Barry, the censure inserted another entry in an already checkered political career.
As mayor in 1990, Barry was arrested and later convicted for cocaine possession. More recently, as a council member, tax troubles resulted in probation.
Barry’s censure was also his second in three years. In 2010, he was stripped of a chairmanship for giving a council contract to a girlfriend and directing city funds to nonprofit groups he created and controlled.
After that sanction, Barry lost his leadership post for a year. This time, it’s unclear if he will ever be allowed to regain it.

Sharon Pratt Kelley was the worst Mayor of Washington, Fenty wasn’t bad. I believe he was basically honest but he was too honest for the voters.
Now they have Gray, a real POS in the Barry tradition.

Still he should be perp walked to police car, have head banged against the sill when he’s loaded in, and sent to jail to await trial.
The purpose of the Democrat party is to elect thieves so they have access to the public treasury in order to loot it.
I used to think it was meaningful but not any more. They are just more sloppy. Their relationships are with people who cannot help them. White Democrats tend to treat them like “Dance for me and then go away”.

.....good point and can ANYONE name ANYWHERE on earth where a governmental City Council, County Commissioners Court, legislative body, state or federal government (i.e. national), is completely controlled by blacks, that it is not completely and utterly corrupt to the core.............???
Here’s a few examples of NOT: Chicago City Council, Detroit City Council, Oakland City Council, Nigeria, Liberia, Kenya and on and on and on..................
So, as some blacks I have talked to know, about the worst thing that can happen to the black communities at large is to be governed by all blacks...............
