Obama to the American people: Raising the debt ceiling doesn't increase debt
American Thinker ^ | 09/19/2013 | Rick Moran

Posted on 09/19/2013 8:13:59 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

This is President Obama in all his sneeringly condescending glory:

"Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven't been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy. All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you've already racked up, Congress. It's a basic function of making sure that the full faith and credit of the United States is preserved."

Obama went on to suggest that "the average person" mistakenly thinks that raising the debt ceiling means the U.S. is racking up more debt:

"It's always a tough vote because the average person thinks raising the debt ceiling must mean that we're running up our debt, so people don't like to vote on it, and, typically, there's some gamesmanship in terms of making the President's party shoulder the burden of raising the -- taking the vote."

Get that? You're too stupid to understand this government stuff so just trust me when I say that raising the debt celing is really a good thing because it ensures the full faith and credit of the US.

That is true. It’s the spending over the old ceiling that increases the debt.

Obama verbal slight of hand!

Every college this guy attended deserves to be kicked down to community college status, then deserves to be bulldozed.

” All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you’ve already racked up.”

So, let me see if I got this right.

You spend more money than you have and then get a loan to spend more....so you spend more!

And....that’s not called increasing your debt?

I guess there are little pixies and fairies flying all around picking money off the money trees and giving Obama a free gift. Yeah! That’s the only reason I can think of.

Democrat math....learned in public indoctrination centers.

Granted, that the federal government bureaucracy and spending is more complex than your household budget and your personal credit cards. But it’s the same fundamental concept. If you spend more than you take in, and charge the difference on a credit card, that credit card debt is out there. And if you continue month after month, year after year, spending more than you take in, your credit card debt grows, it never gets paid off.

Only well educated liberals think differently abotu these matters. That’s why we need good liberals such as Obama to explain these things to us.

Something tells me there is a direct link to his views on raising the debt ceiling and the funds used to pay for his college edgukashun.

But that has nothing to do with the debt ceiling. If my credit card changes my borrowing limit from $10,000 to $15,000 does that mean my debt has gone up $5000? No. It isn't until I put more on the credit card that my debt goes up. So the only way to prevent debt from going up is for Obama and the Congress to stop spending like crazy people.

So if I’ve been supplementing my cash flow by racking up an additional $10K in credit card debt every year, and my card is now maxed out, the credit card company will be overjoyed to increase my credit limit irrespective of my ability to pay - right? o.0

That IS how the world works, isn’t it?

Of course the main difference is you can’t just pay your debts by using a printing press.

The government can.
